I scoffed. »It’s not! Don’t kid yourself, you also need to relax sometimes.«
»Oh, I do relax,« he said, looking at me again. Basically, I didn’t want to know how he did that, because somehow I felt a bit of jealousy even thinking that there might be other women involved.
I cleared my throat and lowered my gaze to his hand that lay in my lap. »Okay, it’s none of my business.«
I felt the fingers of his other hand under my chin, gently he pulled my face towards him. The look he gave me was penetrating, intense, and decidedly too much. »Sport,« he said, and I frowned.
»What?«
»Sport is my relaxation.« He began to grin, and I knew that he had seen right through me.
Embarrassed, I looked away again, hearing his soft laughter.
»You’re jealous.«
I scoffed. »Pff, why should I be?«
»Because you were back then.«
»How on earth do you know that?«
»A boy senses such things.«
I let go of his hand. »As far as I can see, my massage has helped, and you’re quite...« I stressed the word in a very particular way, just to tease him: »Relaxed.«
Again, he laughed and looked at me in that way that made my breath hitch and left a yearning throb within me. »You’re breathtaking, Bri.« He leaned his head back against his support and closed his eyes.
And what on earth was that supposed to mean?

Bri had actually managed to get me to relax somewhat on the plane. Her proximity not only had a particularly intoxicating effect on me, it did me good. Nothing could disturb her peace. Nothing but me, and I rather enjoyed that in a sadistic way.
On the way from the airport to the hotel, we hardly spoke in the limousine. I had handled several phone calls, while Bri had been responding to emails on her phone. I liked that she was ambitious and goal-oriented herself. When she set her mind to something, she did it wholeheartedly, and we were slowly but surely becoming a well-oiled team.
I had been to Las Vegas before, but every time I could sense the special atmosphere that permeated everything here. As if one had entered a world of its own where anything was possible. When the driver pulled up in front of the Grand Fountains, Bri craned her neck to peek through the tinted windows. A gigantic fountain was situated in front of the entrance. The driver circumvented it and parked in front of the wide entrance doors, composed of ample gold and glass.
»Wow, I’ve seen quite a few hotels through my job, but this one is on an entirely different level.« She turned to me, her curiosity unmistakably piqued.
»I hope that the current owner can convince us that it’s not all surface glamour and glitz.«
The driver opened the door and helped Bri out. Instantly, the heat of the midday sun flooded the vehicle’s interior. I followed her out, and as a porter took our luggage, a tall man with dark brown hair and a night-blue suit rushed through the glass revolving door towards us.
»Mr. Crush! Miss Sullivan! I am extremely pleased that you are gracing us with your visit.«
»Mr. Reagan.« We shook hands before he turned to Bri. He gently took her fingers in his, and I immediately recognized his immediate attraction to her charm. An unfamiliar feeling of jealousy washed over me, and I suddenly understood Bri’s reaction on the plane earlier. Is this how she felt when she thought of me being with another woman? Mr. Reagan was in his mid-forties and quite attractive for his age, even I could admit that. Bri gifted him with a breathtaking smile, and I had the intense urge to pull her closer to my side.
»Miss Sullivan, I am extraordinarily pleased to make your acquaintance.« Reagan could hardly take his eyes off her, and I discreetly cleared my throat. His overt advances bothered me not just because they were directed at Bri, but a business partner was expected to treat my assistant with respectful distance. This did not include openly flirting in front of her boss.
Reagan seemed to sense my change of mood, he turned towards the hotel and gestured inside. »Come in! I can hardly wait to show you everything, but first, I have a little surprise in our hotel’s finest suite, which I have reserved just for you.«
We followed him and were immediately greeted by the coolness of the air conditioning in the entrance hall. I had to admit, it was impressive. The ceiling soared several meters high, comprised of a glass dome through which you could gaze directly into the sky. Tiny, glistening crystals hung down from its sides, reflecting the incoming light. Polished gold dominated again, also mirrored in the interior. Mr. Reagan led us to one of the four elevators. »Did you have a pleasant flight?« he asked after we had stepped in. Thinking back to Bri’s hands on me, it had indeed been very pleasant. Even if I could never truly enjoy flying, it was a marked improvement from the usual.
»How many rooms does the hotel have?« I asked, rather than answering. I didn’t want to waste time, as we only had this day and the upcoming night. But I had to be honest with myself. Of course, I already knew the key data of the hotel, but it was a good opportunity to change the subject. Bri stood next to me, while Reagan was across from us. He looked slightly taken aback, but quickly masked it. »We have approximately four thousand rooms, which are cleaned daily. In addition, we offer our own casino, a total of thirteen restaurants, six bars, a wellness area, four outdoor pools, the largest of which spans almost the entire top floor. You will certainly not be left wanting here,« he replied, grinning broadly. He was quite confident in his hotel, so why did he want to hand over its management and get rid of it? Did he have personal reasons? I needed to know everything if I were to invest in such a colossal project.
»But let me show you these things personally, that’s why we’re here, right?« The elevator glided to a halt at the top floor. This is where the truly expensive suites were. Reagan gestured for us to exit. Bri stepped out first and I caught him sneaking a fleeting glance at her rear. When he looked back at me, he knew without a doubt that I had seen it. I gritted my teeth. During my school years, there were occasions when I was not always the reserved, composed boy I normally was. Especially when it came to Bri. I remember a particularly intense confrontation that had left me with a broken nose.
