When Ridge offered to take Ben for a riding lesson, Remi didn’t resist. If Ben was off having fun, she could take Abby to the standing Tuesday night quilting circle at Stella and Vera’s.
Remi and Abby arrived early, and Vera welcomed them with open arms.
With Abby wrapped up in her arms, Vera pointed to the jugs on the counter. “Will you help me make the drinks?”
Abby nodded. “Is that juice?”
“Apple juice. We’ll mix in some mulling spices.”
Abby’s nose scrunched. “What’s that?”
“Don’t worry. We’ll leave some plain for you. How does warm apple juice sound?”
“Yum!”
Remi left Abby in the kitchen and flopped onto the couch beside Cheyenne.
“You okay?” Cheyenne asked.
“I’m okay, but just barely. What about you?”
“Oh, just about to pull my hair out. I want the wedding to be small, but Linda and Everly have such amazing ideas that I want everything. That’s stupid, right?”
Remi shrugged. “I don’t know. I’ve never planned a wedding before. I’ve only attended like three.”
“Including your own?” Cheyenne asked with a bump of her shoulder.
“Including my own. It was nice. I definitely recommend the small, no-frills wedding.”
Cheyenne turned her whole body to face Remi on the couch. “I have to ask you something, but I want you to know that it’s okay to say no.”
Remi rolled her eyes. “Duly noted. You know I’d do almost anything for you.”
“Can Abby be my flower girl?”
“That’s a big yes. She’d love it.”
Cheyenne relaxed against the back of the couch and smiled. “Thanks. And can Ben be the ring bearer?”
“Also a big yes. And you can trust him to hang on to the rings.”
“I know. And he really likes Ridge.”
Remi patted Cheyenne’s knee. “Are y’all thinking about having kids?”
“One step at a time, but yes. Ridge is so good with the kids.”
Ava walked in and hefted a large tote onto the middle of the rug.
“You shouldn’t be carrying anything heavy,” Cheyenne said.
Ava stood and covered her mouth with a yawn. “It’s not heavy, just bulky.”
“You feeling better this week?” Remi asked.
“Much. I’ve only been sick twice this week.”
“It’s Tuesday,” Cheyenne pointed out.
