“My, my, how far you’ve come,” laughs Cyra before we engage in another loving kiss.

CYRA

Ican’t believe it. Lykan has asked me to be his lifelong mate. From enemies at the workplace to secret lovers and now mates to be with loving kids. I think even my friends believe it more than I do.

The big day has arrived but last night was when I started putting the wheels into motion. Although I moved back to Lykan’s side of the estate, I made a point of sleeping separately from him in an effort to keep him on his toes. I also did it as an extra measure for I don’t want him to see me in my dress before I make my walk down the altar.

I’m up earlier than I usually am so that I can get myself mentally prepared for the day. I rested well but despite that, I’m still anxious in the hopes that everything goes right today.

“Take deep breaths Cyra,” I say to myself. “Nothing has gone wrong, it’s just a big day is all, a few little worries are normal.”

I look at the clock on my wall.

“My friends should be arriving by now, I’d better go meet them by the door.”

Throwing on some loungewear, I trot through the hallways and make my way down to one of the many entrances to the estate. The weather is so hot today that even the door is sizzling to the touch. Opening it, I look out just in time to see Sienna, Harper, Layla, and Lucy approaching.

All of them are already dressed appropriately for the ceremony. Their kids walk alongside them, Kenji and Colson chatting and laughing amongst them. Sienna looks up and spots me, a wide smile etching across her face as she waves eagerly.

“Cyra!” she greets, opening her arms for a hug. “Today’s the day!”

“Congratulations,” say the rest of them.

“Thank you all for coming,” I reply. “Girls, I need your help. The ceremony is starting in around an hour’s time and I still need to get fitted for my dress.”

“Well come on then,” quips Layla. “Let’s get inside and do this thing!”

I brew a large vat of tea for everyone and lead them into a fitting room.

“Here, this is my dress. Lykan picked it up for me yesterday but I’m not letting him see me in it until the ceremony starts.”

“Good, it’s bad luck otherwise,” states Harper.

Three quarters of an hour passes as the girls help me slip into the dress, tightening and loosening it in the parts where needed. All the while, we gossip amongst ourselves about our husbands. The children busy themselves playing together in the corner. I keep a cautious eye on the time, flickering my gaze to it seemingly every five minutes.

“Relax Cyra,” says Sienna reassuringly. “You’ll be ready to go in just a minute.”

“Okay,” I sigh. “ I know everything’s going to schedule but I… I…”

“You feel like you have some sort of stage fright?” she asks.

“Yeah that’s it,” I reply, relieved she understands me.

“I went through the same thing right before I got mated.”

“How did you cope with it?”

“Well, I think everyone is different. People always get different reassurances from all types of things, but you and I are alike in many ways Cyra. We both come from Le Lazurt, that’s where you and I met our soul mates. Maybe once you’re out there, you'll remember why you’re doing all of this, and then it’ll all make sense.”

“You’vre got this,” says Layla. She then turns and calls to the kids. “Will one of you hand me the scissors? Be careful handling them!”

She snips a few loose strings off of the back of my dress. Her and Sienna each take an arm of mine and bring me to the mirror. I look at my reflection, stunned by the woman I see.

The dress draped upon my body is white in color. The skirt is made up of several layers, each of them see through individually but all of them layered together mask a faint outline of my legs. Stitched into the torso is a white corset, the same shade as the rest of the fabric, making it practically invisible from a distance.

The sleeves are wide, leaving plenty of room as the fabric falls around my wrists. The shoulder straps slide down onto my upper arms, exposing my collar bone and neck. I already know Lykan’s going to love it.
