“Never thought this would happen in a million years,” remarks Cyra, letting out a sigh of relief.

“Well the girls and I are all incredibly happy for you darling. I was so scared when I found out you were gone from Le Lazurt, and even more so when I discovered why.”

Sienna casts a glance over her shoulder, looking indirectly at Nasthyn.

“I never thought I’d see you get taken away, I just hope that Nasthyn fellow treated you well in his home.”

“I had my suspicions too,” I say. “But all checked out well with him.”

“I imagine you were more scared than anyone else,” she replies. “I don’t know what I would’ve done if someone took Ris away from me.”

“In a way, I’m glad it happened,” says Cyra. “It gave me a chance to see just how much Lykan meant to me, and he came to see me.”

My bride turns to me.

“It really means a lot that you did that for me,” she continues, stroking my face.

“Aw, you too!” gushes Sienna. “I’m glad this man makes you happy, you deserve it more than anyone else.”

At that moment, her husband came over.

“Hello there,” he greets, extending a hand to me. “I’m Ris, Sienna’s mate. I want to say congratulations to you both.”

“Thank you very much,” I reply. “Say, you perform quite regularly down at the club, don’t you?”

“That’s right,” he replies with a smile.

“I must say, the chivdouyu always gets on my nerves… but you? You’re pretty good.”

“Glad to hear,” laughs Ris as everyone joins in. “If you’d like, I’d be more than happy to perform a song for you later on.”

I look at Cyra who smiles at me.

“We’d like that, but let’s get a few more drinks in us first.”

“Sounds good to me.”

“But no heartbreak songs, okay?”

I leave my bridge to continue conversing with his friends as I turn to Nasthyn. He’s engaged in a conversation with Braythe, presumably about miou strategies. It’s the perfect time for me to set things straight with him. I amble over, gently inserting myself between the two soldiers.

“Braythe, may I have a moment alone with Nasthyn?” I ask.

“Of course. I’ll go have another slice of cake.”

“Help yourself,” I say before turning to Nasthyn. “Listen, I just wanted to say I’m sorry I had the wrong idea about you.”

“You did?” he retorted. “About what?”

“When I heard you took Cyra away, I was livid. None of this can stand here and say dark elves treat their humans with kindness and patience.”

A look of realization comes over his face.

“Ah, I understand,” he sighs. “Well, I appreciate the honesty. It was not even my idea if I’m being honest, it was Zanath’s. If it makes you feel better, I’ve cut ties with him. Either way, I hope we can become friends.”

“In my eyes, we already are,” I reply, sticking out my hand. “Thank you for looking after Cyra all that time, and for being good to the kids.”

“It’s quite alright Lykan. My congratulations to you both, now then, shall we raise our glasses?”
