I go to walk past him but in his quickness, he steps back in front of me. In his eyes, I can see he’s itching for a fight.

“What the fuck are you doing?” I growl.

“I could ask you the same thing,” he quips. “Do you think a little apology is going to get you out of this? As if you weren’t a waste of space back in combat training, and now you go and embarrass me like this… No, something’s got to be done.”

The scar worn beside his lips makes it seem as though he’s always scheming something evil. It doesn’t help that his posture stoops as he stands, giving him the appearance of some foul creature worse than an orc. Watching on eagerly are those eating around us, perhaps keen at the prospect of a brawl at lunchtime.

“Need I teach you another lesson you waste of air?” he sneers.

“Back the fuck off Yaghed, it’s just some food.”

“What’s the matter? Am I getting you riled up?”

“I’m warning you…”

“And what the fuck are you going to do, you little perimeter watching piss stain!”

The orcs roar in laughter, no doubt giving Yaghed the validation he seeks.

“You see?” he snarls. “Even everyone else thinks the same of you.”

“Get the fuck away from me, I’ve places to-”

Without warning, Yaghed pushes me.

“What are you going to do about that, huh? You want to challenge me again? We both know that won’t bode well for you.”

As much as I want to punch him in the mouth, I know Yaghed is right. If I touch him now, he could kick my ass in front of everyone, though it seems he just wants to embarrass me.

“I’ll just use you to wipe the mud on my shoes like I did the last time you little bitch. Shit, maybe I’ll get you demoted again, then you won’t even be worthy enough to do fuck all at the gates! Ha!”

He steps forward into my personal space, his face just inches away from mine. The smell of his rotting breath and body odor makes me want to throw up. Just then, he sniffs me with widened eyes.

“You smell like a woman,” he jeers. “Only thing you’re missing is a pair of tits!”

I stand my ground, not budging from my spot as he tries squaring up once more. The defiance in my demeanor seemingly throws him off as he tilts his head in frustration.

“It’d do you well to shut your mouth and get the fuck out of my way,” I hiss.

“Come on then, do something, I dare you, I fucking double dare you little bitch! Throw a punch and I’ll break your hand, I’ll have you demoted again so that all you can do is shovel shit from my lavatory, how does that sound eh?”

No one from around us comes to my aid, and why would they? Somehow, I only seemed to gather enemies here.

“Maybe I’ll give you a couple of scars to brandish, how about that?” says Yaghed, spitting on my feet as he does so. “That might earn you a shred of respect around these parts, pretty boy.”

“We don’t have to fight,” I retort. “Hasn’t your victory over me given you enough satisfaction?”

“Far from it,” chuckles Yaghed. “Get down on your fucking knees and kiss my feet you son of a bitch. Bow to me like the bitch you are.”

Before I can respond, the sight of a familiar figure approaching behind Yaghed catches my attention. From the distance, Yamarz marches over, making a beeline straight for us.

Great, now things are only about to get worse,I think to myself. He’s tolerable around Willo, but without her around, he’s no doubt going to use this chance to proclaim her for himself.

YAMARZ

Never again did I ever anticipate getting into a relationship after all these years of being alone. Now, here I sit on my bed reflecting on my interest in Willo. As if being in a relationship with her isn’t enough of a radical change, I must also share her with another orc just to have her.
