In the past few months, Alix hadn’t left his house. The moment he brought her here, she had free reign over his house, but she couldn’t leave it.

“Do you want to go?” Dmitry asked.

Sofia screamed for joy and Dmitry chuckled.

Alix took a step toward him. “Are you sure it’s safe?”

“Yes,” he said. “I think it’s time for us to head out and have some fun.”

Pregnant. Alix wondered if she would be able to sneak off to a pharmacy. She didn’t know if there was one at a theme park, but she might be able to leave to go and find one. Dmitry and his men would be busy with Sofia.

“I’d love to go.” She forced a smile to her face and Sofia was already jumping with excitement.

In less than an hour, they were ready to leave. Dmitry, herself, and Sofia sat in the back of a family pickup, while one of his men drove them down the long driveway, toward the main gate. Alix noted three other cars, one up in front, and two more behind them.

“Don’t you think you’ll draw attention to yourself?” Alix asked, while Sofia was distracted by some music.

“It will be fine.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m sure.” He took her hand. “I wouldn’t put you or Sofia in danger.”

“What about you?”

“I can take care of myself. I promise.”

She didn’t like this, but she sat back as they took the journey to the theme park. It wasn’t too far, just an hour away. The car park was full to bursting, but Dmitry’s men found spaces for all the cars. She noticed that his men were no longer dressed in suits. The few men she did recognize took off ahead of them. No one would assume they were security detail.

Now that she looked at the men, she also realized Dmitry wasn’t in his usual suit. He wore a pair of jeans and a shirt. He looked like a casual father, taking his little girl out, which was exactly what he was. Not a feared Bratva boss intent on scaring people.

Alix took a deep breath, noting the entrance of the theme park. She watched as one of his men stopped at the main gate. She wouldn’t be able to make her escape to a pharmacy there, which annoyed her because there was one right across the street. She had to wonder if that was purposefully done for children and adults at a theme park.

Stepping inside the gate, she noticed it was noisy. Even though it was midafternoon, it was still busy. Sofia held her hand as well as Dmitry’s as they made their way through the park. The first ride they came to, Sofia wanted on. Alix got nervous, but Dmitry paid the price and helped Sofia on. There was no room for adults, so they stood on the sidelines. She couldn’t help but watch every single person around them with suspicion.

The ride went smoothly and Sofia was already having the time of her life. For the next hour, Alix kept trying to find a reasonable excuse to leave, but there was none. They all rode on the age-appropriate rides, Dmitry insisting she ride as well. When she could, she got him to ride on at least one.

After the second hour passed, Alix realized she could go to the bathroom. Sofia wasn’t interested in using the bathroom as she was enjoying some cotton candy. This was her opportunity.

“I’m going to use the bathroom,” Alix said.

“I’ll take you,” Dmitry said.

“No, no, that’s fine. Let Sofia enjoy her candy without seeing the lines of traffic.” She’d find a way to sneak out, go to the pharmacy, grab a test, sneak back, use the bathroom, take the test, and be back without a hitch. Dmitry didn’t have to know.

He nodded at her and she took off, going in the direction of the bathroom. The moment she was out of sight, she headed toward the main gate, being careful as she saw not one, but two of Dmitry’s men there.

There were a group of people laughing and she was about to join them, when an arm grabbed her, stopping her from leaving.

“Planning your escape?” Dmitry asked. He looked angry.

“No.”

“Then why were you going to leave?”

She opened her mouth, closed it, and then glanced across at the pharmacy.

He’s never going to marry you. He doesn’t love you. You’re just a nice fuck.
