"Hello?"

"We're here," Spencer said. He’d regained his composure very fast.

"We're going to send someone in a few minutes. Hang in there, okay?"

"Sure," Spencer said.

I covered my mouth with my hand, glancing up.

"Don't worry, there are no security cameras."

"How do you know?" I whispered.

"I asked them once, and they said the building isn’t wired right.”

I lowered my hand, trying to look completely innocent. But I suspected I was still red in the face when the doors opened.

"I need to go to the bathroom really quick," I said, feeling my face go up in flames.

"So do I. Meet you back here in a few minutes?" he asked.

I nodded.Penny, act like the kick-ass woman you are, not like a teenager.I grinned as I stepped inside the bathroom. Obviously, I wasn't going to be able to clean at the sink or anything, but I always had some baby wipes with me. I went into a cubicle and took care of everything. It still felt a bit surreal.

I came out quickly, washing my hands and inspecting myself in the mirror. My mouth had a red hue all around it. It wasn't tremendously visible, but if someone looked close enough, they might wonder if I’d smeared some lipstick all around my lips. I reapplied a bit of makeup. My hair was wilder than before. Had Spencer gripped my hair at some point? It was possible. All I could remember was his mouth on mine and his fingers inside me. It felt absolutely glorious.

I was immensely nervous. I'd never done anything sexy with a guy before we even went on a date, and I wasn't sure how to behave.

Spencer was waiting for me in front of the restroom.

"I've already spoken to the person in charge of seating. Let's go to our table."

"Sure." I glanced down at my feet, pushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Penny," Spencer said.

I looked up, startled. I hadn't seen him move closer.

"Are we okay?"

I wasn't sure how to put everything I felt into words, but I wanted to try.

"It's just, what happened in the elevator is a first for me. I'm not sure how to act now or what to do."

He pinned me with his gaze. "I’m taking you out to dinner. We’re going to have fun. Then—" He brought his mouth to my ear. "—I'll make you come again if you want."

I gasped, then took a step back and burst out laughing.

Spencer looked incredulous for a few seconds before starting to laugh as well. "Okay, this is not the effect I'd thought it’d have on you, but I'll take it. At least you’re at ease."

I nodded. Some of the tension left my body. Spencer put a hand on my upper back.

We had a lovely table near the bar. I glanced around, zeroing in on a huge tree outside the window. I hadn't noticed it on the way in. Then again, I was too focused on a certain sexy guy. They still had twinkle lights up even though the holiday season was long gone. Maybe they kept them year-round.

The wall was covered in red-and-gold silk. It was extravagant, classic, and modern at the same time. I loved it.

"Think they're going to fix the elevator before we leave?" I asked.

"No."
