They found a spot in the thick of the patrons enjoying the music. Shekita’s hands slid along her arms and came to entwine at the base of Pola’s neck. They swayed together, their breasts brushing each other. Pola’s hands found their way to Shekita’s waist. They fit together perfectly.

Mate, Pola’s bear snarled as if to remind her of what they both knew.

Shekita’s lips were curved up into her sexy grin as she leaned her head back, presenting the column of her neck. Pola’s fangs descended, bursting through her gums from her watching the object of her desire writhe in her arms. Shekita moved forward, closing the gap between them.

Pola leaned her forehead against her newfound mate’s, gyrating her hips with Shekita’s. Unable to resist, she covered Shekita’s lips with hers. The kiss was explosive. Pola’s tongue pushed inside Shekita’s mouth, finding hers.

Everything around them disappeared.

Pola became lost in the woman in her arms.

Shekita pulled back slightly, but her arms were still entwined behind Pola’s neck. Lust was heavy in her gaze. Pola picked up the strong aroma of her arousal. Her bear growled low, demanding they claim their mate immediately.

“I was going to ask if there is a woman in your life? A mate, maybe?” Shekita asked breathlessly.

Their bodies moved to the slow ballad flowing through the speakers. Pola took in the people wrapped up in each other’s embraces, enjoying the song. Lovers kissing, hands roaming over bodies, it would seem they were caught up in their own worlds as well.

“I’m a bear shifter. We are not like humans and don’t cheat. Once we mate, we are loyal for life,” Pola whispered. She couldn’t resist dropping a chaste kiss to Shekita’s lips. She slid her hands down to the roundness of Shekita’s ass, squeezing it gently. “When we find the one for us, they are our primary focus to bring that mate love, happiness, and pleasure.”

“That sounds too good to be true.” Shekita chuckled.

“But it is the truth,” Pola admitted. She didn’t want to stay in the bar any longer. She wanted to find them a quiet place, preferably her cabin, where she could take her mate. Already in the matter of a short time, Pola was finding herself becoming captivated by her. She wanted to take her far away from here, learn everything about her, who she was, what goals she had in life, what made her happy, and what made her scream in pleasure.

“It’s hot in here. Want to go outside for some fresh air?”

Pola took in Shekita’s hooded gaze, her plump lips, and knew she would follow this woman anywhere.

“Sure.”

ChapterFour

Shekita’s heart raced so fast it was hard for her to catch her breath. She didn’t know if it was because she’d had a few drinks or if it was the sexy woman leading her outside.

They left via a side door that led them to the wraparound porch. The fresh air was cool and felt good on her warm skin. She breathed in the air, glad to be away from the thick smog of smoke. The nighttime sky was black, marred by the twinkles of the stars spread across it.

Shekita inched closer to Pola, holding her arm against her chest while they walked along the wooden porch.

“It’s beautiful out here,” Shekita murmured. She glanced up at the bear shifter, and her core clenched with need. She had mentioned needing to release pent-up stress, and she couldn’t think of a better way than with Pola. She didn’t care that she had only just met the woman. One look in her eyes, and it felt as if she had known the bear shifter forever.

“It is,” Pola replied. Her gaze wasn’t on the sky but on Shekita.

They had arrived at the back of the building where the shadows covered them. Shekita moved to the railing and tilted her head back so she could watch the lights of a plane pass by. Her heart slowed with each breath she took.

“I’m talking about the sky.” Shekita giggled.

Pola came to stand beside her, her warmth covering Shekita’s back. The surrounding landscape behind the bar was a flat plain, sparsely covered with trees and brush. She could see clear through them to the mountainous range off in the distance. Essentially, they were alone for the moment, but anyone could walk back along the porch and find them.

“Then I guess we weren’t talking about the same thing.” Pola’s head dropped to her shoulder. She dragged her fangs against Shekita’s bare skin.

A shiver rippled through Shekita. She leaned her head away, presenting her neck to her.

What would it feel like to have those fangs bury themselves in her flesh?

It was unthinkable that she could have this type of reaction to another person. Shekita instantly felt a connection between her and Pola. She didn’t know what it was, but she wanted to explore it. She felt safe in the center of Pola’s embrace.

That she had never felt with Bobbie.

“You said before that you were looking to release some stress,” Pola whispered. Her tongue skated along the column of Shekita’s neck. Her arms tightened around Shekita’s waist, bringing her flush against her front.
