“Bishop did this?” Pola gasped. “What was he doing here?”

“Apparently, he came to try to convince my mate that she should give him a chance instead of being with me.” Dasha growled.

“And I’ve already told him twice that I didn’t want to see him,” Saffron interjected.

“When was the second time?” Pola asked.

“He had stopped by my shop earlier today. He said some really foul things, and I just told him I didn’t want to see him. But he has it in his head that he’s better for me then Dasha.”

They broke out of the woods and walked across the yard. The lake was quiet, a few boats sailing off in the distance. A slight breeze blew past them, the scent of the water filling Dasha’s senses. If she closed her eyes, she could pretend they had just been on a nice evening walk and not fighting for her mate with another bear. Seeing the look of love and adoration on Saffron’s face sent a warm rush of emotions through her.

Without a thought, Dasha knew she would fight anyone for the love of her woman.

“Here we are,” Junior announced.

They aimed for the steps that led up to Saffron’s front porch.

“Will you two be all right by yourselves?” Pola asked.

“Of course. I’m not injured, and I can take care of Dasha’s needs,” Saffron replied. Her cheeks grew rosy red, her gaze flicking down to her feet.

“I’m not even going to go and make a joke since you’re mating with my sister.” Pola sighed. She released Dasha and turned to her. “Are you sure you don’t need to shift again right now? That may help your healing.”

“We’re here if you want to. We can watch your back,” Junior chimed in. He released Dasha and kept a steady eye on her as she took the few steps to the bottom stair.

Dasha faced her siblings while reaching out for her mate. She needed to have her hands on her. Her bear was still in her protective role. The fight with Bishop could have ended with either one of them submitting, or it could have ended in death

Saffron slid comfortably into her embrace.

There was no way in the seven hells Dasha would have submitted to Bishop and handed her mate over to him. She would rather face death than do that.

“Shifting may use up too much energy. I’ll rest, though, and shift first thing in the morning. I should be good as new then.” Dasha appreciated her siblings wanting to help, but she had one thing on her mind now that they were safely back at Saffron’s home

“Are you—” Pola was shoved by Junior who wore a shit-eating grin.

“I’m sure our older sister knows what she wants, and it doesn’t involve the two of us being around.” He wagged his eyebrows.

The confusion on Pola’s face quickly dissipated once she came to an understanding of what their brother was insinuating. She blew out a deep breath, pinching the bridge of her nose.

“This is going to take some getting used to,” she muttered. “There are some things I just won’t want to know.”

“Understood.” Saffron broke away and hugged Pola again. “I love you, bestie.”

Dasha’s heart swelled with the knowledge that her sister was happy for them. Pola glanced over Saffron’s shoulder and winked at her. Dasha grinned at her little sister.

“I love you, too. Now make sure you take care of my sister. She can be very stubborn. Call me if see gives you any trouble.”

“I promise to be the perfect patient.” Dasha held up her hand.

Her siblings and Saffron laughed.

Dasha glanced at all of them. “What did I say that was so funny?”

“You following orders? We’ll see about that!” Junior snorted.

“Get out of here, you two.” Dasha playfully snarled at them.

It was well time for them to go. She wasn’t going to expect the enforcers to come back with any news tonight. They would have to search the banks of the river to look for Bishop. The longer it took, the likelihood of them finding him would decrease.
