“Thanks.” Saffron’s face lit up with excitement. “I was nervous cooking for you.”
“Why?” Dasha’s eyebrows rose high. Her mate shouldn’t be nervous in front of her. She wanted Saffron to always be comfortable around her.
“You’re such a good cook, and I’m just okay.” Saffron’s cheeks flushed a warm rosy color.
She smiled, and Dasha knew without a doubt that she loved Saffron. She had gone through a lot to ensure this dinner was perfect for them.
“It’s not the food that matters, it’s the company that makes the celebration.” Dasha reached over and took Saffron’s hand in hers. She entwined their fingers together and gave a tight squeeze. “And you’re all that I want.”
Saffron’s eyes widened.
“What are you saying?” Saffron whispered.
Dasha’s bear paced inside her chest. This was the moment she had been waiting for. Her bear wasn’t going to let her wait anymore.
“I think you know what I’m saying.’’ Dasha smiled gently at Saffron and continued holding her hand. She didn’t want to risk the chance that Saffron would try to run away. “You are my mate, Saffron. You belong to me and I to you.”
Tears appeared in Saffron’s eyes. Dasha froze, fear filling her heart. Had she read Saffron wrong? Was this just a fling to her? She hoped not. Her bear would go crazy if Saffron turned them down. They would have to let her go. They couldn’t force a mating. No matter what, she would always love Saffron and would want to see her happy, even if it wasn’t with her.
Saffron wiped her cheeks, clearing the trail of tears. Dasha grew anxious waiting for Saffron to say something.
“Did I just say something to make you sad?” Dasha couldn’t wait any longer. She wiped her hands on her legs and immediately missed the warmth of Saffron’s hand
“No, you didn’t. These aren’t tears of sadness. They are tears of joy.” Saffron chuckled.
Dasha relaxed slightly, but she still didn’t understand why her declaration would trigger a tearful response.
“I’m so glad to hear that your bear identified me as your mate.” Saffron pushed back and came over to Dasha.
Her smile widened as she straddled Dasha. Saffron wrapped her arms around Dasha’s neck and promptly fused her mouth to Dasha’s. Her bear roared, loving that their mate was accepting of their claim. Dasha immediately took control of the kiss.
Her animal demanded she claim her mate now.
Possess her.
Put her mark on her so the world would know Saffron was her woman. She immediately deepened the kiss. Her tongue swept into Saffron’s mouth, stroking her tongue. Dasha reached up and held Saffron’s head in a place while she thoroughly kissed her. Saffron leaned into the kiss, returning it with a hot fever of her own. Her moans filled the air.
Dasha pulled away and trailed hot kisses along Saffron’s neck. She nipped the spot she was dying to sink her fangs into to put her mark.
“This is where I’ll put my mark,” Dasha growled. Her gums burned and stretched as her fangs pushed through.
“Do it,” Saffron whispered.
She cupped Dasha’s face and stared into her eyes. Dasha’s chest rumbled from her bear’s agreement with Saffron. Her mate’s lips were swollen, and the scent of her arousal was thick in the air, distracting Dasha. She moved her gaze from her tasty lips and met her eyes.
“There is nothing I want more than for you to claim me,” Saffron said. “I can feel it here that I belong to you.” She pounded on her chest above her heart.
A snarl escaped Dasha, her gaze dropping back down to Saffron’s shoulder. She skated her hands down Saffron’s body and rested them on her waist. She could do it now. One bite, and she would bind her woman to her forever. She pulled Saffron as close to her as possible, leaving no room between them. Saffron’s hot core rested on her stomach. The scent of her arousal grew stronger, and it was consuming Dasha.
She reached up and brushed Saffron’s hair away from her shoulder. Saffron pulled her shoulder strap to the side, revealing her smooth skin. She tilted her head, giving Dasha full access to her. She watched Dasha, her eyes filled with trust.
The sound of a car door slamming shut broke Dasha from her haze. Saffron stiffened.
“Who the hell could that be?” Saffron murmured.
Dasha’s bear growled. She wasn’t sure why, but her animal sensed something. Dasha always trusted her animal.
If it was her sister, then they would tell her now and come clean about their relationship.
