“Do you have any Cokes?” Saffron asked.
Dasha nodded and grabbed two cold cans from the fridge and glasses.
Saffron shook her head. “I don’t need glasses. Can is perfectly fine.”
Dasha grinned. She, too, preferred to drink straight from the can.
They took their meal and sat on the stools at the island. Dasha couldn’t stop stealing glances at Saffron as they ate.
“Is everything to your liking?” Dasha asked. Her bear worried about their mate and if she was pleased with the food. If not, she would cook something for her.
“Everything is fine. Matter of fact, it’s perfect.” Saffron smiled. She reached out a hand and rested it on Dasha’s knee.
Dasha’s gaze dropped down to her small, soft hand. She had already come to the conclusion that she loved having her mate’s hands on her. Seeing Saffron freely touch her opened the pit of desire that was close to boiling over. “Who would have thought me and you would end up here?”
Saffron slowly caressed Dasha’s thigh while popping a chip into her mouth, Her warm brown eyes studied Dasha.
“I’ve always thought you were beautiful,” Dasha admitted. After all these years it felt good to get this off her chest. She turned to Saffron and took her hand in hers. She wasn’t good with words. She was always one who best expressed her feelings though her artwork. It was why her works were so popular. People could connect with her paintings. Now she wanted to say something clever and romantic, and her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth. She frowned, unable to think of anything, so she just blurted out the first thing that came to her mind. “You don’t care that I’m so much older than you?”
“Not at all. I think that makes you sexier.” Saffron didn’t hesitate with her response.
She gave Dasha’s hand a squeeze before guiding it between her legs. She spread her thighs wide enough to allow Dasha’s hand to cup her silky-smooth mound. Dasha immediately slipped a finger between Saffron’s slit and found her drenched, she inhaled sharply. Had she been paying attention she would have smelled her mate’s arousal.
“And I have a thing about older women who are bear shifters.”
“What about my sister?” Dasha asked. She had to address the elephant in the room. Her hand remained where it was, her half-eaten food forgotten.
“Well, that depends. Was this just a one-time thing?” Saffron leveled Dasha with a serious gaze.
“No,” Dasha exclaimed. There was no way she was giving up her mate. She would find the perfect way to tell Saffron. She didn’t want to just blurt it out, she needed it to be special. What was between them would be forever. Dasha wanted to ensure that Saffron would accept her. She and her bear would have to prove they were worthy of Saffron’s love.
Her animal sat up, ready for the challenge.
She was very competitive and determined. Her bear wasn’t worried. Dasha wished her human side was as confident as her animal.
“Then we will have to tell Pola. She would be upset if we didn’t.” Saffron made it sound so simple. But Dasha had to admit her sister was the levelheaded one of the Prime siblings.
“I agree. I wouldn’t want to deceive my sister.”
“But if we want to take a couple of days to explore what is between us, I don’t think it would hurt.” Saffron’s eyes twinkled with mischief.
This was the Saffron Dasha had always been intrigued by.
She rocked her hips against Dasha’s hand. “And I want to know how long you’ve thought I was beautiful?”
Now it was Dasha’s turn to blush. She shouldn’t admit it, but she refused to fib to her mate. Starting off lying wouldn’t be healthy. She slipped her finger farther into Saffron’s slit, gathering her honey before trailing it up to her swollen nub. Saffron’s eyes widened as she held Dasha’s stare. A low moan slipped from her lips. Dasha was in awe with how Saffron’s body responded to her. It had to be the mating bond. Her human mate wouldn’t understand how intense the bond was until she received her claiming mark. The bite would trigger a response in her that would reveal to her the deep connection she had with Dasha. Shifters sensed it before the mating, and it always drove their animals crazy. Dasha was getting the sense and would have to claim Saffron soon. Otherwise her bear would only focus on claiming their mate until she had succeeded.
“The first time was the weekend you came to the lake with our family when we went boating,” Dasha said softly. Her finger strummed Saffron’s sensitive pink button. Her mate’s eyes darkened, becoming filled with lust. “We were out on the lake on my dad’s new boat, and you were wearing a new bikini you had just got.”
“That was years ago,” Saffron breathed. She settled against the backrest, opening her legs wider for Dasha. A beautiful blush spread down her neck and over her full breasts. Her brown nipples were puckered into buds. Her chest rose and fell with her small pants. “I remember that weekend, I was sixteen.”
“I know.” Dasha closed her eyes, ashamed. She shouldn’t have been eyeing Saffron at that age. It was then she’d decided to stay away from the young girl, she was ten years older and had no business having carnal thoughts crossing her mind. “And it wasn’t right, so I pushed you away. I thought if I was mean, you wouldn’t come around me and would leave me alone.”
But that hadn’t been the case. Saffron and Pola were the best of friends and did everything together. Most times it seemed as if Saffron spent more time at the Prime house than her own. Once Dasha had moved out on her own, she didn’t have to worry about her sister’s friend.
“All the things I imagined doing to you would have landed me in jail.” Dasha’s lips curled at the expression on her mate’s face. Her parted lips, her wide eyes were so sexy and had her bear pacing.
“Well, what’s stopping you now?” Saffron exhaled slowly. She snagged her bottom lip with her teeth. A whimper escaped her.
