She said it more casually than she was feeling, and nervously walked with him up several flights of stairs.
It was a stunning old building and his office was grand, with views over Jerez.
‘You shouldn’t have come.’
He said it so tersely that Anna flinched, wondering for a second if he was cross with her for turning up—for outing them, even though he’d never minded before, but then he added.
‘But I’m very glad you did.’
Her eyes snapped to his, and precisely what was meant by his look Anna couldn’t tell, but she saw they were blazing, angry and in agony.
She had never crossed a room so fast in her life. She moved as if to catch him—only he wasn’t falling, because he met her halfway.
His kiss was fierce, rough and passionate, as if all the emotion of the past days was pouring from his lips, and she kissed him back just as hard. Blotting out everything, just offering escape.
Rough kisses crushed all incoming thought. She could feel his hands lifting her, unnecessarily, because she was already scaling him, wrapping herself around him—but not in the way she had the morning before.
This wasn’t about comfort...just a final escape.
‘Anna...’
Maybe the barrels below were exploding in the cellar? Or perhaps everything was falling apart in the courtyard below? But they were escaping together.
She felt her knickers tear and heard the rapid unbuckling of his belt. It was more than raw. It was necessary and urgent...
For them both.
He took her away from sorrow, as he had the very moment they’d met. He took her to a place Anna did not know.
She wanted his passion unleashed.
This was all they would ever be—she knew it even as she succumbed. It was nothing for him but sex and dark passion. She didn’t care in this moment. She only cared that he had needed her and she had been there for him, and he needed her again now, but in a different way—and she needed him too.
She ground onto him as he thrust hard, but then he took over and she felt the demand of his hands, moving her hips faster. Whatever he gave, he drew out from her, because soon she was reaching a blinding climax and she felt electric in his arms.
His groan as he shot into her was almost reluctant.
She couldn’t breathe properly.
Their foreheads were pressed together, and neither wanted to go back down and face reality.
‘Can we stay up here?’ Sebastián said, and he kissed her face.
She managed a little laugh. ‘I wish!’
‘When do you go back?’ he asked as he lowered her down. ‘Tonight?’
‘A couple of days,’ Anna said, straightening her dress, unable to look at him or even to speak...because he didn’t need to hear how much she loved him on this day.
Or ever.
‘A couple of days?’ he checked.
She could hear a thousand questions in his voice.
One of her shoes had fallen off and she was slipping it back on as he sorted out his suit.
‘I can stay in Jerez tonight,’ Anna said, ‘if you want me to. I have to be back in Marbella tomorrow.’
