He was so at ease with himself that he frowned, trying to understand what she was asking, but then he reminded himself this was Anna.
He stepped out of the online meeting.
‘Anna, I was just asking if you wanted breakfast.’
He did not understand how the smile he had greeted her with as she’d surfaced on deck, the look in his eyes and his subsequent reaction, had told all present at the meeting—including Alejandro—that his latest temporary lover had appeared.
‘I don’t want anyone to know, remember?’ she told him.
It was the one part of their agreement they hadn’t properly thrashed out.
He still could not understand what the issue was. Her insistence on secrecy had begun to irritate him, in fact. But for Anna clearly the issue was huge.
And so he kissed her worry away, smothering her in kisses once the meeting had ended.
It was forgotten—or rather, lost—in a whirl of jet-skis, water bikes and even a slide put out by the crew that went from the yacht straight into the ocean.
‘Why have you got an inflatable slide?’ she asked.
‘Because...’ he said, and then gave her a slow, wicked smile. ‘Have you never wondered about those emergency slides on a plane?’
‘We’re not on a plane.’
‘Evacuate!’ he exclaimed urgently, and stalked towards her menacingly.
‘What!’
‘Do not stop to collect your personal belongings...’
His deep voice was urgent, and she felt goosebumps—not so much at the imagined scenario, but because Sebastián was having fun. Real fun. And so was she. The type of fun where she screamed and laughed at the same time as he picked her up.
‘Don’t!’ she shrilled, as he carried her to the edge.
The edge of the yacht, the edge of sheer joy, the edge of fear and ecstasy.
And she screamed as she bumped down the slide and skimmed the water for a second before crashing in.
He followed straight behind her, catching her waist and pulling her up to the surface. She did not want to know how deep the water was beneath them, or what lurked at the bottom.
She was in it.
And, oh, gosh, even as she laughed there was a new terror as she wrapped her legs around his waist and they kissed.
Because she was so deeply in...so deeply into him.
Her legs were wrapped around him...the sun was beating on her shoulders, her scalp, intensifying her feelings. His eyes were so black as she stared into them, his lashes so spiky, and now her smile was fading...
‘Sebastián?’
She didn’t know how to contain all that she felt...how to accept this deliciousness only for it to end...how to be his now and yet also to know that their days were numbered...how to return back to normal when they hit their expiry date...nor how to hide the passion he tapped not just in others but in her...
Tell him!Her own voice sounded in her head as she stared back at him.Tell him how you are feeling, right this moment...right now.Tell him that you might just be falling in...
‘I think—’
He interrupted her. ‘Do you want to go again?’
Sebastián was either oblivious to the turmoil in her eyes, or actively preventing her from saying words he did not want to hear.
