Page 70 of All Bets are Off

I look around at the faces of our pseudo-family and realize that I’m not nervous at all to make the official announcement. No one here is going to judge us.

“Hey, everybody. We have something to tell you,” I say. My hand is still tightly held in West’s, and I hold them up for the room to see. “West and I are a couple.”

Our friends glance at one other.

“Like…boyfriends,” I clarify, in case they didn’t get it. Colt and Dex already know, and Jase, of course. Kasey probably figured it out. But shouldn’t somebody look surprised?

“They’re finally coming out to us,” Cara says.

“You really thought we didn’t know?” Sean asks us.

Before I can answer, Andi stands. “Congrats, West and Logan. ‘Bout time you told us. I’m outta here. I promised Tara we’d go to the movies.” Grabbing her jacket from the back of her chair, she walks out of the room.

“I’ve got to finish writing my report.” Colt smiles at us and follows her out.

One by one, our coworkers exit, all of them giving us a handshake or pat on the back but none of them seeming particularly surprised or shaken by our news, until only Jase is left.

He chuckles at our expressions. “If you wanted more of a reaction, you should have announced it before everyone had time to figure it out for themselves. You two aren’t exactly subtle in your feelings for each other.”

“What are you talking about?” West asks. “We’ve been very circumspect.”

“Yeah, right. By the way, did you break Logan’s bed? The maid said it was sagging at one corner.”

My face heats. “Uh…”

“Get that fixed.” Laughing to himself, Jase heads for his office.

“Well, that was underwhelming,” West mutters as we climb the back staircase.

“I thought at least a couple of them didn’t know,” I said.

In West’s bedroom, which doesn’t have a broken bed, I yank my shirt over my head and toss it onto a chair before wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing his cheek. “You’re so cute.”

“What are you talking about?” he scoffs.

“You just are.” Letting him go, I shuck off my jeans and boxers. When I turn around, he’s looking at me, an odd expression on his face. “What?”

“I was wondering.” He fiddles with the hem of his shirt. “Do you want to fuck me?”

My heart stutters. “What?”

“Do you want tofuck me?” he says loudly.

“Really?”

West makes a disgruntled noise. “Yes, really.”

“You’d let me?”

He frowns. “Why wouldn’t I? Did you think I was always going to be on top?”

“Honestly? Yes.”

“Have you been wanting to top me or something?”

“I haven’t even thought about it. It’s kind of a miracle we’re fucking at all, you know?”

Looking a little insulted, West sits on the bed. “I can be…vers. Or whatever it’s called.”
