“We can if you like?” I say, wiggling my brows at her.

“Don’t threaten me with a good time,” she smirks.

Amused, I roll my eyes.

“Want to stop and get food on the way?” she questions, hopping up from her bed.

“Fuck, yes!” I grab my bag, ready to get out of here.

“My treat!” she announces, and together we dance our way to the door with no music playing like lunatics.

“Weirdos,” Max, her younger brother, mutters as he spoons cereal into his mouth.

“Later!” Blair announces, getting an “I love you” from all of her family members.

“After all these years… still weird,” I mutter as we exit her house. We move to her car and get in. The car roars to life.

“You have a fucked up family. That doesn’t count. Look,” she starts, grabbing my cheeks to direct my face to her. “I love you, Arty. Stay safe and get home safe tonight.”

I blink at her. “Can we just go eat?”

She giggles, shaking her head. “Say it back first!”

Sighing, I try to open her locked car to escape this. She whacks my arm. “Ow! Jeez! I love you… Stay safe and get fucked really hard.”

“Yes!” Giggling, she turns back to the wheel and begins driving. My eyes glance at her, watching her focus on the road.

Truly… She knows… I love her, right? I mean I don’t say it as often as she does, but I laugh at her jokes, listen and help with her issues, and hold her after every dumb guy breaks her heart.

She gets more fidgety when we get closer to the restaurant, so I decide to play one of her songs after she orders and nudge her to sing it. After a glare, she begins muttering the words, staring out into space until we can park and eat.

I glance at her, wishing I could take away her pain.Someone as lovely and bright as her doesn’t deserve the assholes in this town.

“Stupid how far it is,” I mutter, reclining the seat back a bit.

“Yeah,” she chuckles, swallowing a fry. “But you know how rich people are. They like it secluded and private.”

“Heard that one of the guys throwing the party owns the corn maze.”

“Who would even admit that? At that point just say, you get no bitches.”

I chuckle. “Rude. Dude probably gets all the girls during Halloween.”

She nods, eyes on her food. “I would fuck his dad.”

I snort. “His dad? You don’t even know what he looks like. Why would you fuck him?”

“One, he has money from the maze, obviously. Two, age-gap. Hot, am I right? Three, why go for less? I would rather get the old version that could at least make me come,” she shimmies behind the wheel, biting her pink lips. She sucks on her teeth. “Ugh. Tonight, I will find someone that can flick my bean. Theo was okay and all but very selfish. What is up with men being selfish? Like do you want a dry pussy or not? You can’t have both!”

I giggle, rolling my eyes. “Leave that boy in the dust where he belongs. You’re too good for him.”

“He’s moved on anyway,” she mutters, looking down at her food.

A growl escapes me as I glare at her.I told her she should block him.“One, stop paying attention to him. I’m sure there are a million hot guys at your school that are better. Two, fuck that guy. He isn’t even all that, and you know it.”

She nods. “You let me date someone ugly!”

“Me?” I squeal, hand on my chest.
