I close my eyes. I can’t agree with him any more than I already do.

“Giules…” he whispers again.

“Yes, Declan?” I turn my head and now the two of us are facing one another.

His deep green eyes bore into mine, and oh my God, it’s taking every fiber within me not to let go and kiss him right now.

He smiles softly. “I think I’m falling for you…”

At this very moment, he’s confessing to me he’s falling in love with me. I can feel everything between us shift, and I can’t deny the fact that I’m feeling the same way about him, too.

“Really?” I ask softly.

He nods. “Definitely.”

I let my lips curl into a small smile. “That’s good.” I search his eyes as our lips inch closer and closer to one another.

“Oh, yeah? Why’s that?” he asks.

I know after I say these next words to him, our lips will finally come together in a kiss that I’ve been longing for ever since the moment his lips left mine.

Instead of rushing the moment, I pause, savoring every millisecond, then take a breath, and finally say, “Because I’m falling for you, too.”

ChapterTwenty-Two

GIULIANA

“So then tomorrow night?”

I giggle, twirling my hair around my finger. He makes me feel so giddy; I can’t get enough of Declan. “Tomorrow night,” I promise.

It’s been three weeks since he took me out on the lake on his rowboat, and since then, I feel like we’ve grown even closer. If we don’t see each other every day, it’s every other day. I guess you can say we’re dating and he’s mine.

The thought alone makes me smile so widely.

“Can’t come soon enough,” he whispers into the phone.

I look up at the clock to the right and notice it’s time to go. I can’t wait to head home. I’ve got plans with Liv tonight. I’m glad that it’s still daylight outside because I decided to walk to work today. The good thing about summer is that the sun won’t go down for a while, so I should be fine walking home while it’s still light.

“Hey, let me get out of here, and I’ll give you a ring once I get home, babe,” I say into the phone.

“Want me to pick you up and give you a ride home?”

I smile again. “No, it’s okay. You’ve got to go get Lily.”

“She won’t mind waiting a bit… she’s with her favorite aunt.”

I chuckle. “I know, but you’re still at work, anyway.”

“True. But the great thing about being the boss is that you can come and go as you please… it’s one of the perks.”

I laugh again. “I bet. I’ll talk to you when I get home.”

He chuckles, too. “Sounds like a plan. I’ll be waiting, gorgeous.”

God, can I smile any harder? I can’t help it though. I so love it when he calls me names like that. “Okay, we’ll talk soon.”

Once we hang up the phone, I go find Mr. Abner in the back. “Hey Greg, would you like me to stay and lock up?”
