"I bet. I was there. Do you remember me being there?"
"I almost messed with you and said I don't remember it, but of course I do. Thank you for staying so long. I think you're one of the reasons I'm half-human again today."
"Do you want me to come by now?"
"Yes. I do. Is it a possibility? Can you get away? I'll come get you."
"You can't do that."
"Yes, I can. I went to work."
"No, I don't mean you can't. I mean you shouldn’t. Not if it's supposed to be an undercover visit. Brooks would see you. He's all over the place."
"I'm not worried about being undercover. They know you came over here yesterday."
"Exactly, so two days in a row is going to be hard to explain."
"I'll just come pick you up, and you can explain later. It's pointless to get a ride when I have a truck."
"Okay. Are you sure you're good to drive?"
"Yes. Definitely. To come get you? I could run over there on my feet if I had to."
"How many miles is it?"
"Probably four or five."
"Are you coming?"
"Yes. I'll be there in twenty minutes—thirty, depending on traffic."
"Could you call when you get close, and I'll meet you on the side, where the trailers are?"
"Yes," he said.
"Thank you, Adam."
"Thank you, Alice," he said, with a smile in his voice.
I loved the sound of my name when he said it. I had grown out of hating the name Alice, so I wasn't unhappy when he called me that. He knew it. We had talked about it before.
We said goodbye, and there was no doubt both of us were smiling when we hung up. It was twenty minutes later when he called me and told me he was five minutes out. I went to talk to my sister.
"I decided I wanted to leave the movie set, and I called AJ just in case he was feeling up to working this afternoon, and he was, so he's coming to pick me up."
"Oh, you called him? He's working for us? Just tell Brooks how long, so he can pay him."
"Thank you, Summer."
She hugged me. "Thank you for being so patient while I'm stuck working all the time."
"It's fine. This is our normal life," I said, even though I didn't feel normal at all. I was in love. I was twitter-pated, like Walt Disney says.

"Hey," I said, when I got into the truck with AJ.
"Hey," he said.
