“We arenotstaring.” He snickers and I roll my eyes as he turns us again. “Okay, fine, there’s a little staring but can you blame a girl? This is like hot guy central down here.”

His laugh is booming, and even though it earns us more than a few looks, Montana doesn’t seem to care in the least.

“Why thank you, ma’am,” he says with the tip of his ballcap as the song ends and Case walks up with a semipanicked look.

“May I cut in?”

CASE

Hannah eyes me suspiciously and I don’t blame her. My palms are sweating, and I wish I would have just manned up and asked her to dance before Montana jumped in, but something about this girl just has me ass over teakettle every time we meet.

“Are you asking me to dance because you want to or because there’s a very pissed off ex-non-girlfriend stomping over here?”

I swallow hard, and she beams at me at the same time she tangles her fingers with mine.

“Yes,” I say, answering both questions. She laughs and pushes herself flush against me, and my brain momentarily short-circuits as I remember the steps to the song I can’t hear over the blood pounding in my ears.

“Why are you acting so nervous, Stud?” Her tease snaps me out of my stupor, and I shake my head as I spin her out and back to me in one quick, fluid motion. She giggles and I can see Mila’s sister pulling her back into the crowd.

Bullet dodged.

Hannah stares at me expectantly, and I blow out a breath and answer as honestly as I’ve ever wanted to.

“You make it easy to get swept up in you—leaves a man feelin’ off kilter.”

“Is that right?” Her voice is sultry, and dammit if I don’t want to just lean down and kiss the hell out of her perfect rose-colored lips. They’re free of anything but maybe a little lip balm—something organic or homemade if I’d have to guess—and so fucking perfect I have to work double time to keep myself in check.

“Yeah.”

“You afraid of a challenge, Stud?”

“No.” I worry my bottom lip with my teeth as I search for the right words. “I think we might want different things.”

“Oh yeah? Like what?”

The answer to this is easy because I practically grilled Holly on her niece and why she didn’t bother to tell me her hot-as-sin relative was coming to live in our small town. Holly wasn’t fazed by my questions or my righteous indignation, but she did share that Hannah’s time here was temporary, and that was enough for me.

Or it should be.

Looking at her now as the sun casts her in a soft glow, she looks like an angel, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Her hips are now flush against mine, and every time she moves she sways a little harder against me, and my dick is more than a little interested in what she’s doing.

“I don’t want to be the guy who warms a bed for only one night.”

“How about two?” She gives me a cheeky grin and I chuckle because she’s pure temptation.

“If you’d come here a few weeks ago, I would have said yes without hesitation.”

“Case?”

“Yeah?”

“I think it’s good to know what you want.” She agrees then pauses. “It’s not going to stop me from flirting with you though.” Her expression is devilish, and Lord Almighty this woman is trouble.

Needing space before I do something stupid, I spin her out and then back into me in time with the music. “I’d be heartbroken if you did.”

“I think I believe that.” She bobs her head from side to side then asks, “What’s the deal with Montana?”
