We got married the day after Taylor and Xavier tried to kill us. We didn’t want to wait anymore, not after everything that happened.
Jelly is squirted on her belly, and Camilla hisses.
“What is it?” I stand from the rolling chair.
“Just cold. That’s all, baby. Just cold.” She pats my hand, and I sit down again, staring at the screen while the doctor swirls her wand over Camilla’s stomach.
“Let’s see here. Oh, there it is.”
A quick heartbeat whooshes through the speakers, and I’m in awe. I can’t believe I missed this the first time. “Is she, he, healthy?” I ask, needing to know.
“Oh, yes, so—” she pauses, moving the wand and clicking buttons.
I do not like it when buttons click.
“What? What is it? What’s wrong? Don’t keep us waiting,” I bark at the lady, and she jumps.
“Luca, let her work. She’s thinking. Don’t be like that.” Camilla rubs my arm, and I nod, taking a few deep breaths.
I’ve become very protective since she told me she was pregnant again. I don’t want anything to go wrong. I need everything to be perfect. I want it to be how it was the first time
“I’m sorry. It looks like one was hiding this entire time. You’re having twins! How wonderful. Three times in a row, that’s truly special!” she jokes, but all I hear is get my wife pregnant as many times as I can, no matter how possessive it sounds.
“Twins?” I rasp. “Really? Again?” Oh my God, I’m going to have six kids in total.
“Really. And it looks like they are girls. Congratulations. Looks like you’ll be outnumbered, Dad,” she informs. “I’ll print out some pictures. Congratulations.”
“Girls.” I smile, leaning over to kiss Camilla. “Thank you. Thank you so much. I’ll get them the biggest dollhouse. I’m so happy. I can’t wait for them to be here. I’m…” I get emotional, something I only do with Camilla. “I’m so fucking thankful.” I cup her belly and wish I could protect them right now, but the safest place they can be is right where they are.
“Two girls…are you ready for that?”
“Are you kidding, Beautiful Girl? I was made for dress-up and tea parties. I believe I became a professional with Ashley and Ashton.”
“Don’t forget the makeup.”
I grumble under my breath. “I couldn’t, considering I promised I wouldn’t wash Olivia’s and Ashley’s masterpiece off. I had to go to work like that.”
Camilla giggles. “And I wish I could have seen their faces.”
I did.
Parker is first on the list. I’m going to make sure Olivia gets him next time. He’ll think twice about laughing at me then.
“Two more girls,” she sighs, rubbing her stomach. “You’ve been amazing, you know,” she says out of nowhere. “You’re the best father. It’s been so amazing seeing you with them. I wish we had that with Oliver and Olivia, but you would have been just like this. Protective and loving. I’m the luckiest woman alive.” She groans, placing her hands on either side of her stomach.
“What is it?”
“Just a kick to the bladder. I feel they will already be Daddy’s girls if they treat me like this.”
I grin, helping her slip down from the exam table. “I hope so.”
Reaching behind her, I tug on the tie from the hospital-like gown and watch it fall to the floor, puddling at our feet.
“Fuck, you’re sexy.” I rub my hands over her stomach and pin her against the table.
“I’m a whale.”
“No, you’re carrying my children, and nothing gets me hotter than that.”
