He handed it to me and there it was. Two lines!
I stared at the little window. I was speechless for a few moments.
“Congratulations, my love. You did it,” Ben grinned and kissed me.
“No, you did it, Ben,” I said and started crying.
“Those better be happy tears.”
“Yeah,” I sobbed, “I think so. Who the hell knows? I’m an emotional wreck.”
“Welcome to motherhood, baby,” he laughed and hugged me tightly.

Madi and Alyssa went nuts when I shared the news with them. Mom cried and Dad started buying balance bikes and padded baseball bats.
Ben’s family was equally excited. Owen and Suzy were engaged and super excited for us. Ben’s parents offered to start a college fund and brought over a giant-sized bear to congratulate us.
Ben and I were so happy. I was a bit nervous, though. It had been so difficult to conceive, I worried that we were getting all hyped up too soon. But Ben talked me up and insisted that I stay positive. God bless him.
“Are you ready, honey?” he asked me as he squirted the gel onto the ultrasound probe.
“Are you kidding? I’ve been ready for eight months!” I grinned.
I was about six weeks along and couldn’t wait to see who was causing all the fuss inside my body.
Ben watched the ultrasound monitor as he moved the probe around. I was too nervous to look, so I stared at the ceiling.
“And?” I asked impatiently.
“Take a look.”
I took a deep breath before I turned to look.
“What? Am I seeing this right?” I asked, very slowly.
“That depends. What are you seeing?”
“Either our baby has three legs, or…”
“Or there are two babies in there,” Ben grinned, proud as punch.
“What? Twins!”
“No wonder you’re so tired all the time. Your body is working hard.”
“Holy…are they okay?”
“Now, what kind of a question is that? They’re our babies. Of course, they’re okay. Strong like bulls.”
“Can you see the sex?”
“I’m looking. Give me a second.”
Two babies! Wow! I couldn’t believe it. I was shooting for one, but, hey…two would do nicely, too.
“Can you tell, babe?” I asked impatiently.
