We finished our meal and took a stroll back home. I had a quick nap while Ben and the babies watched a game of football on TV. My life was bliss.

Sunday morning came around quickly. Then again, time flew when you were the mother of twin babies. The doorbell rang and Ben went to answer.

“Your folks are a little early, aren't they?” I said and looked at my watch.

“Hello!” I heard from the entrance hall. “Where’s my princess?”

“Dad?”

Mom and Dad came strolling into the living room as if it was no big thing.

“What are you guys doing here?” I said excitedly.

“I heard there was a barbecue, and you know how I feel about ribeye,” Dad chuckled and gave me a big hug.

“Surprise,” Mom smiled.

“What? Ben? Did you do this?”

“Of course. I did promise you a family barbecue.”

“Oh, you sneak. Thank you, babe.”

“You’re welcome, sweetheart.”

“Where are my grandbabies?” Dad insisted.

“Yes, we’ve been dying to see them again. I know it’s only been two months, but I’ll bet they’re twice the size they were the last time.”

“I’ll get them.”

I looked back and saw my dad and Ben chatting happily. My heart was overflowing with gratitude and love.

“Peyton looks so happy, Ben. I know she’s happy to be a mom, but I know you have made the biggest contribution to her joy. Thank you, Ben.”

“I love your daughter so much. She’s made me happier than I ever thought I could be. And the twins are a joy. Can we take a walk in the garden, Frank? There’s something I wanted to talk to you about.”

“Sure. Is everything okay?”

“Oh, yeah. There’s no problem.”

Frank and I left the room while the women cooed over the twins. I was a little nervous.

“I wanted to ask you something, Frank.”

“Go ahead.”

“I want to marry Peyton and I would like your blessing.”

“I see.”

“I know we did things a little backward, but I think the time is right now for us to make it official.”

“Ben, you are a treasure. Nothing would make me happier, Son.”

Frank shook my hand and then pulled me in for a bear hug.
