Page 15 of I Saved Him Too

“Frankie, don’t!” I bellowed.

“Fuck you, mother—” Frankie roars, but he doesn’t finish because I pulled the trigger, killing him instantly.

Another bullet goes off and I watch as the other guy falls to the ground. I turn to see smoke coming out of the barrel of Max’s gun.

We rushed in and undid Donovan and Ash’s restraints, but Donovan rears back and says, “Shorty and Tia first.” His voice was thick with anger.

“Fuck. Max, get Tia, and Gio, help the guys.” I barked the orders as I ran toward the girls.

“Are they okay?” Donovan’s voice breaking.

I didn’t respond.

My breath hitched in my throat.

What the fuck was I seeing?

Shorty’s bloody and bruised face. Her body contorted in an odd position.

Tia was no better.

I was afraid to touch them, fearing one wrong move could fracture something.

“Seb?” Donnie wheezes, trying to catch his breath.

“Is she okay?” Donovan’s voice was full of fear.

“Tell me, damnit!” Panic rises in his voice.

“No, she’s not okay.”

Chapter 4- Flashback

SADIE

“Come on, sis. You can’t stay in your room all day!”

I’m lying in my bed with my back to the door. Jo has been in and out of my room, begging me to go outside all day, but I’m too sad to play.

It’s been three days since Doni left me.

I miss him.

“Come on, Sade. I know you miss him, but I’m here,” Jo says in a quiet voice.

I turn to face where he sits on the edge of my bed with a frown on his face.

“Don’t be sad, Jo.” I crawled toward him.

“I don’t want you to be sad either, Sade. I’m sorry your friend is gone, but I’m here. I miss you.”

I threw myself at Jo and hugged him tightly, like he is one of my stuffed animals.

“I miss you too,” I whispered.

“Come on.” He tugged on my hand until my feet landed on the floor.

“Where are we going?”
