“Just fine, thank you. How’s business?”
“Oh, you know, good but not as good as yours I imagine,” he replies.
Aria opens the menu and the man practically shouts, “No, no. Don’t even look. I’ll prepare you a buffet of our best dishes.” Aria closes the menu and nods. “And wine. Let me get someone over with a bottle for you.”
The man saunters off to the bar and Aria leans across the table. “Do they treat you like this everywhere you go?”
“Usually, yes. Does that bother you?”
“It’ll take some getting used to.”
“Aria, why are you so shy? Do you not know how beautiful you are? You get just as much attention as I do.”
She blushes and says, “No, but thank you.”
“Tell me everything there is to know about little Aria from America.”
“I wouldn’t know where to start and it would be a very short story. My life until now has been fairly uneventful.”
“Let’s start with something simple then. What’s your favorite color?”
“Green,” she smirks.
“And your favorite flower?”
“I don’t have one favorite. I like them all.”
“Okay, what about boyfriends? Tell me about your high school sweetheart.”
“I never had one. I went to prom with a friend. I’ve never really been interested in dating.”
“You’re so young. What was the problem? Is there something wrong with the dating scene where you’re from?”
She looks down at the table, then back up at me, “Every boy that’s ever been interested in me has only wanted one thing. They never asked me things like my favorite color or flower. They didn’t care. They just wanted to get me drunk or high and sleep with me.”
“And you don’t sleep around?”
Her face turns flush and she bats her eyes at me.
“Come on, princess. Don’t hold back now.”
She leans forward again and whispers, “What you did last night was the most I’ve ever done with a man.”
It takes a second for my brain to translate what she just said. Did she just tell me she’s a virgin? Having this information makes me even more thankful that I didn’t take her in an amped-up frenzy last night. I’m going to need to show her how much I appreciate the gift of her purity when I take it from her because there’s no doubt in my mind that I will.
“Are you saving yourself for some special reason?” I ask her.
She goes silent and looks away from me.
“What is it? Tell me, little girl.”
She looks into my eyes and says, “I was but I think I’ve found it.”
My heart pounds in my chest and that all-too-familiar longing hits my groin. I can’t wait to get her back to my place so that I can show her what a real man can do for her. But first, I need to know she understands what that means.
“Before we take this any further, you need to know something about me, little girl. I don’t make it a habit to sleep around because I’m both selective and possessive. You better be certain that this isn’t a passing fancy. Once you give yourself to me, you are mine. Do you understand?”
She takes a deep breath in and holds it for a moment then says, “If I wasn’t sure of that, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. If I thought that you just wanted to have sex with me, you wouldn’t have a chance.”
