Though I’d never openly admit it to anyone, imagining a life with her was always my fallback for when I needed to escape reality. It wasn’t hard to imagine nights together, like this one, where we’d be snuggled up together in a blanket, our body heat keeping us warm. Or spending mornings together drinking coffee.

And now that I’ve actually lived it, seen what a life with her could be, I make the decision that I’ll never leave her again. I don’t know what will happen in the near future, but I know that at the end of the day she’s what I want. What I’ve always wanted. Addison is the stars that light up my sky, and without her, I’m in darkness.

I think back to my conversation with Grace a few days ago about whether or not I thought Addison was my soulmate. Though our start was rocky, there’s no denying that Addison and I were meant to find each other. Meant to balance each other out.

“Noah?” she says my name, pulling me out of my thoughts. Her voice is so soft that I almost miss it.

I glance down at her resting on my chest and run my fingers through her hair. “Hm?”

Addison doesn’t respond right away, and for a moment, I think she’s fallen asleep, but finally, she mutters three words that gut me so deeply but also fill me with a joy I haven’t experienced before. “I love you.”

I squeeze my eyes closed as my heart threatens to jump right out of my chest. Those three little words that we’ve skirted around for so long are finally out in the open. It was no secret how we felt about each other when we were younger, but I told her to wait. Wait until there would be no obstacles, and we could love each other freely and passionately as we both desired to do. And while now isn’t—shouldn’t be—that time, there’s no going back.

For years I’ve known I’ve loved her, and now finally, I have verbal confirmation that she loves me back. I'm still not sure if I believe in Soulmates, but Addison Parks is undoubtedly a part of me that I've been missing. And now that I have her again, I’m never letting her go.

“I love you,” I whisper back to her, feeling as if I’ve never spoken truer words in my lifetime. Her only response is a gentle snore, indicating that she’s actually fallen asleep this time.

I smile to myself and wrap my arms around her, pulling her feminine body into mine. Addison nestles her cheek against my chest in her sleep, and I bury my nose in her hair, finding comfort in her warm lavender scent. I hold her close to me throughout the night, feeling like everything is right in the world for the first time in as long as I can remember.

Chapter 14

Addison

“Stop! Noah, stop! You’re getting soap in my eye!” I screech, batting my hands at the man in front of me. He’s got his muscular arms wrapped around my naked body, holding me close to his chest as he rubs his wet hair all over my face.

He finally stops and throws his head back. His deep laugh sends desire straight through my body, and I laugh along with him, rubbing at my eyes, trying to swipe away the soap. I can’t remember who had the great idea to shower together this morning, but it’s becoming a disaster. A soapy, wet, delightful disaster.

“Come on, Parks,” he says between laughter, “Let me wash your hair out.”

I turn around, giving him access to my hair. His big hands roam down my arms and my sides, resting on the swell of my hips before landing a sharp smack to my rear end. I yelp in surprise and look back at him over my shoulder, a blush forming on my cheeks. He smirks at me darkly, desire flaring in his blue eyes.

“Aren’t you going to wash my hair?” I ask him, the corners of my lips pulling up.

His fingers go to my hips, and he pulls me back into his body. I shiver as I feel his hard length against my rear end. “Is that what you want?” he questions me.

Warm desire blooms in my belly and travels throughout my body. I turn around to face Noah, my arms raising to wrap across his shoulders. I tilt my chin up towards him, feeling the weight of his heavy gaze roaming my body. I run my tongue over my lower lip, and his eyes track the movement. I feel emboldened when I’m with him in this way as if I have all the confidence in the world. It’s something I’ve only experienced with him. He makes me powerful in my own skin.

“I want you.”

Noah bends down, closing the distance between us until our lips are locked together. His hand cups the back of my neck, maneuvering me how he wants me so he can devour me. I moan into his mouth, my body arching against his, bending to his will. I’m obsessed with the feel of his bare skin on mine. A part of me never wants us to have to put clothes on again. He scoops me up in his arms, his hands gripping me by the thighs and pressing my back into the cool tile wall.

“Luckily for you,” he murmurs huskily against my lips. “That’s exactly what I want too.”

I lean my head back against the wall as his lips assault my neck. My eyes close as I let him take me to heights I never knew I could reach until him. At that moment, all I know is Noah and the pleasure that he’s giving.

When we’re finally sated and rinsed off, we leave the bathroom, get dressed and start working on breakfast. Noah makes the coffee, and I throw some eggs and sausage in a pan on the stove. I pull a package of tortillas out of the pantry and get the fixings for breakfast burritos.

A knock at the door has us both pausing in our tasks and turning towards the sound. I frown and walk over to the door, peeking through the eye hole to see who it is. My heart constricts uncomfortably as Eli’s discouraged face comes into view. I step back, squeezing my eyes shut, and groan.

“Everything okay?” Noah asks, walking towards me, concern etched on his features. His shoulders square up as he comes closer as if he’s getting ready to fight off a threat, and his hand rests on my hip, his fingers strong against me.

“Yeah, it’s Eli,” I tell him before turning back to the door. “I have no idea what he wants.”

I unlock the deadbolt and open up the door. Eli perks up, turning towards me, his face hopeful. His expression falls immediately as he notices his arch-nemesis standing protectively behind me, and his eye drops to Noah’s hand on my hip.

“Eli, what’s up?” I ask him, ignoring the pointed glare Eli is sending Noah.

He turns back to me, his face softening slightly. “I wanted to talk to you.”
