“Maybe later. I think you would scandalize the beach too much if I did that here.”

My lips curl into a small smile. “Do you have magic fingers or something?”

His hands freeze on my back for the slightest moment before moving again. “I don’t know about magic, but I haven’t had any complaints before.”

“I don’t know if I believe you.”

His chest rumbles with a quiet laugh. “Are you trying to provoke me, Adalyn?”

My breathing speeds up. “That depends.”

“On?”

“If it’s working,” I breathe.

His thumbs push up my back, pressing deep into the muscle on their way to my neck. The moment he starts to knead the skin below my hairline, I whimper.

I feel him move closer, his front so close to my back I can feel the heat radiating from him. A warm gush of air brushes the back of my ear.

“Don’t make that noise here,” he whispers, fingers trailing down toward the dip of my spine.

I curl my fingers into the blanket in front of me and glance at him over my shoulder. His eyes meet mine. They’re dark, edged with something I want to dig my fingers into.

Last night changed something between us, broke some wall that kept us from allowing our minds to wander to this sexual place, and now I can’t seem to go back. We’ve been here for all of five minutes, and I already want to push him onto his back and crawl up his body.

“Take me somewhere I can be noisy, then.”

“Adalyn.” It’s a warning.

I blow right past the warning when I drop my head back against his shoulder and lean against him, ensuring our bodies are flush. The feel of him hard against my back is enough to sever the last of my willpower.

“What is happening right now?” I breathe. I’m hot beneath my skin, burning from the inside out.

His hands fall to my thighs as he holds them in place, not allowing me to spread them like I want to.

“It’s the atmosphere,” he rumbles.

I shake my head. “It’s not.” It’s not sexual here. The people might be naked, but they don’t matter. I haven’t even looked at them since we’ve arrived. “This is all for you.”

His fingers press harder into my skin. “What is?”

“Touch me and find out.”

“Fuck,” he grinds out.

“Yes.”

“Adalyn.” He says it again like it’s both a curse and a blessing.

“You want me too. I can feel how badly you do.”

“Then I won’t bother pretending otherwise. But it isn’t happening.”

This time when I look at him, I find him searching the beach, jaw tense. I open my mouth to ask what he’s looking for when he pushes to a sudden stand, bringing me with him.

He pulls me close to his body, keeping me blocked from the view of the majority of people behind us. His next words make my stomach drop with excitement the way it does when you fall from the top of a roller coaster.

“A nude beach isn’t where I thought we would cross off your fantasy of public sex, but I guess we’ll take what we can get.”
