“I told you. You would have for me.”

I rolled my eyes and shoved him. “You’re so stupid.”

He laughed. “I just told you that, too.”

We walked across the outdoor basketball court and over to the fence surrounding the football field. “Is this bringing back memories?”

“A little. Did I tell you I hold the school’s record for the most touchdown receptions?”

“Really?”

“Yeah, it sounds better than it is. Our QB ended up at Alabama and then the pros. So, it was really abouthisarm. I just caught the passes.”

“Have I heard of him?”

He shrugged. “Flip Caruso. He’s a backup right now. But, he’ll likely get a shot next year when their starter retires.”

I stepped out onto the field. “Show me what you’ve got.”

A few raindrops landed on my hoodie. I looked up at the darkening clouds, knowing they could open up at any moment. And, if I was going to go through with my plan, it was now or never.

“We don’t have a ball,” Kyler said unfazed by the rain. “And, I couldn’t catch it if we did.”

“That’s not exactly what I meant.”

His eyes narrowed as he watched me peel off my hoodie.

His head cocked to the side. “Nora?”

“I seem to recall a funny story Bono told me,” I said, removing my shirt so that I was only in my bra.

“You wouldn’t?” he said.

“You gonna join me?” I asked as my fingers unfastened the button on my jeans.

He laughed. “You’re crazy.”

“You did it first,” I reminded him.

He seemed to consider it for a moment, then he reached behind his neck and tugged his hoodie and T-shirt over his head in one fluid motion.

I kicked off my sneakers and pushed my jeans down my legs so that I was only wearing my panties.

Kyler’s eyes smoldered as they moved over my body. Then, he shoved off his sneakers and dropped his jeans.

I turned toward the end zone and took off running down the field. The once-soft blades of grass were a little sharper in December. I couldn’t hear Kyler’s footsteps behind me, but I knew he’d followed. He eventually caught up with me, wrapping his arms around my stomach from behind and lifting me right off my feet causing me to squeal.

“Did you really think I wouldn’t catch you?” he asked against my ear.

Just then, the clouds opened up and rain poured down on us. I lifted my face to the sky and laughed while the rain soaked me to the bone. I couldn’t picture a more perfect moment.

Kyler placed me down, spinning me to face him.

Raindrops hung from my eyelashes as I gazed up at him. “How did this feel with a crowd of people watching?” I asked.

“Not as good as it feels right now.” He pushed wet strands of hair away from my face. “I’m glad I didn’t meet you in high school.”

I smirked. “I definitely wouldn’t have gone streaking with you.”
