You have got to be kidding me.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Rhys practically parroted her very thought. “Swear to Christ, if this thing goes to shit because these two idiots couldn’t wait until they were home to—”
“Oh, Vince.” The woman moaned. “Yeah, baby. Just like that!”
Eyes rolling, Vanessa barely managed to hold back a groan. In all her years as a spy, she’d never found herself in this particular situation. Now that she had, she wanted to be anywhere else.
“Okay, Ness,” Rhys spoke to her again. “Just wait until they’re finished, and then get the fuck out.”
Uh…you think?
The woman cried out, clearly enjoying whatever her date was doing to her. Though it was cringe-worthy at best, Vanessa used the couple’s symphony of sex to drown out her whispered words.
“Parker, is Austin still with you?”
“Yeah, but he’s slowly making his way across the room. If he gets close to the south entrance, I’ll intervene.”
“Yeah, baby.” The man getting it on mere feet from where she stood growled with pleasure. “God, you feel so good.”
A few snickers and razzing comments from Rhys’s teammates came through the other end of the comms.
“Damn, Van—I meanAmelia,” Parker spoke again. “Bet you didn’t know when you signed up for this that you’d get dinneranda show.”
More laughter ensued and Vanessa rested her head in her hands. Wishing the guy would get there already, she silently prayed…
Please, God…just shoot me now.
Probably not the best request, given her current situation. But for the love of all that was holy…didn’t these idiots know she was trying to save the world, here?
The woman’s high-pitched keening sound announced her release. Thankfully, the man’s deep, uneven grunts followed shortly after, and within minutes, the couple had finished their little tryst and were straightening themselves up before leaving.
“Wow.” The woman sounded out of breath. “That was...”
“Fun, right?”
The woman giggled. “Yeah, baby. That was fun. Now come on. Let’s get out of here before someone catches us.”
“Ladies first.”
Thank. God.
“Okay, Ness.” Rhys was all business again. “Give them a few seconds to clear the area and then go.”
“Um, you do realize this isn’t my first rodeo, right?”
“Don’t care. I’m not taking any chances. Not with this one.”
Vanessa couldn’t help but smile. It was cute knowing Rhys was worried about her. When they first met back up the other night, he’d been so angry. So resentful. But now…
My, how the times have changed.
“Parker, I want you to start heading her way,” he continued giving orders. “Stall anyone who gets close to that office door.”
“Headed into the hallway now.”
“Ness?”
“On it.” She crawled out from beneath the desk and repositioned the chair.
