“Seamus,” Ronan calls out as he pulls back, his eyes looking over every inch of my body checking for injuries. His eyes darken when he sees the blood and bruises forming. I place my hand on his chest over his heart as Seamus steps up to his side.

“Get my woman home.”

“No Ronan, I’m staying here.”

He shakes his head anger flashing across his face, “you’re fucking going home Liv.”

I pull away from him, “no, I’m not. We have an ambulance and cops on their way here and you need to take care of Vincenzo. Baby you need to get him out of here.”

He turns to look at Connor then over at Vincenzo. I see him warring with himself. I think he’s going to agree but then he shakes his head again. “No. I need you to go home. I need to make sure you’re ok.”

“Brother, she’s right.” Finn steps up to us, turning Ronan to face him. “I can stay with Liv while the cops and paramedics arrive, we’ll come up with a story that clears all this. While you, Con and Seamus get Vincenzo back to the warehouse. I promise brother. Your woman is safe with me. I’ll take care of her, and I’ll make sure she gets checked out at the hospital.”

I inwardly chuckle. Finn knows exactly what he’s doing telling Ronan that he’ll make sure I get checked out. I look over at my man, his breathing gets heavier as he weighs the options out. I see his shoulders sag the moment he realises Finn is right. He turns to look at me and my heart aches when I see the pain in his eyes.

“I’ll be fine baby. Trust us. Go. Get the hell out of here, Finn and I have this.”

He gently kisses me and rests his forehead on mine, taking several deep breaths.

“If you need anything, or if you need me…”

“I’ll call you. I promise.” I gently kiss him then move to walk away but he grabs at my arm pulling me back. “I love you Mo Ghrá.”

“I love you too baby.”

I kneel placing my hands over Dan’s bullet wound as Finn helps his brothers and Seamus drag Vincenzo out to the car. Finn makes it back into the room seconds before the police and paramedics burst through the front door.

Chapter 32

“Vincenzo is missing. We last heard from him about thirty-six hours ago when he said he was headed to Banna to grab Ronan’s girl. The brothers and Seamus have been travelling around New York chasing after him, he thought he’d given them the slip but now I’m thinking he wasn’t so lucky.”

If I didn’t know who he was I would think that he hadn’t heard me. But he did. He’s just processing what I’ve told him. I hate the silence. I always feel the need to fill it. Growing up he tried to teach me that silence was good for the soul. He’d make me sit for hours on end in silence when all I wanted to do was get to know him, all I wanted was for him to get to know me. But that’s not what he wanted though. He wanted to rule the O’Farrell Clan, and I was just a means to an end to get him what he wanted. I tried to convince him in the beginning it was a mistake to go after them, after all they were family.

But the more time I spent with him and his side of the family the more I realised that I wanted exactly what he wanted. I wanted to lead; I wanted a chance to be in control. The Russo’s had worked so hard to build up the reputation that they had, but when they tried to break into Ireland they were blocked by the O’Farrells and the other Clans and Syndicates. They made the decision to implant one of their own into the O’Farrells. The plan was to take them down from the inside, but my Uncle Barry was fucking smarter than they gave him credit for. He knew something wasn’t right, so he spent months digging for information.

I hated killing him and Aoife, but they had to die. Once they knew the truth, we couldn’t let them live. I thought I’d feel bad when they died when I helped kill them. But I was relieved. Relieved that Da was safe for a little longer, that our plan was still in motion. We weren’t prepared to let anything, or anyone stand in our way.

He sips his coffee like he has all the time in the world. His eyes never leaving mine. It’s sixteen solid minutes of silence before he finally speaks.

“Let’s assume he has been captured. Do we think he likely to tell them anything?”

I take a minute to think about how I respond. He probably already knows the answer. But I need to be sure I am one hundred per cent confident in what I tell him. He’s testing me.

“I think he’ll hold out for a little while. But… I think in the end, he’ll tell them exactly what they want to know.” I get a small lift of the head, but that’s it. I know I’ve answered the way he wants because if I hadn’t, he would have told me how disappointed in me he would be, so I don’t say anything else.

He’s been typing away on his laptop for the last fifty-five minutes. He hasn’t given me approval to move yet so I’ve sat here in silence watching him, waiting for him to tell me I can go.

“Plans are set.” He looks over at me. I do my best not to show I have no idea what he’s talking about, but I see the disappointment in his eyes. He gives a shake of his head and rolls his eyes but continues. “You wanted that British bitch, Alex… she’s yours. Do what you want with her. I have buyers lined up for the others. Your cousins will live long enough to watch their woman being taken away from them. I want to make sure they feel a measure of pain, so I have arranged something for their viewing pleasure. The smirk that I watch rise on his face, makes even me shiver.

“I intend on breaking in the others before I ship them off to their buyers. Bella and Cara as agreed with their fathers will remain off limits.” He closes his eyes and smiles to himself. “Liv is a firecracker I want to see who breaks first. Her or Ronan.”

“What about Niamh? She’s already pretty broken.”

He tsks at my interruption but graces me with a response. “Her buyer is aware of her issues. I have agreed she will be shipped to him as is. I have no interest in breaking someone who has nothing left in them. Her buyer will be with us when we collect the others.

“Nora, I think I’d like to keep for a while. I watched her and Rory together. I’d like to have my own taste of what that little whore has to offer. She will remain with me until I’m bored with her. As for the children, I have one buyer who is prepared to take them all.”

I shift slightly in my chair. I have no objection to torturing my cousins to watch them suffer. Hell, I have no issue torturing and raping the women. But even I’m uncomfortable with hurting kids. “Da… I’m not sure we should…”
