I consider arguing, but I stop myself. I’m sure he’ll get tired of whatever this is pretty quickly. “Fine.”
He looks giddy. “Have a good night.”
Chapter Sixty-Five
Juno
Sure enough, he’s standingon my front stoop, coffee in hand the next morning. He hands it to me. “Morning. Did you sleep well?”
“Yes. Thank you.” I take the cup from him. “How about you?”
He shakes his head. “Too much on my brain.”
I laugh. “I don’t doubt it.”
“Can I walk with you?” he asks.
I take a sip of my coffee. He’s gotten my order exactly right, damn him. It would be easier if he wasn’t so likable. “Fine.”
We walk a few blocks and then he says, “Are you settled in your place?”
I let out a loud laugh. “No. Not at all.”
He frowns.
“I’ve just been so busy, and also I’m terrible at assembling furniture. I need to hire someone.”
“I’ll help,” he says quickly. “I’m great at that sort of thing.”
I don’t doubt it. What isn’t he good at?
“I’m sure I can’t afford your hourly rate,” I say.
He laughs loudly. “No you can’t. Don’t worry, I’ll work for dinner.”
I steal a glance at him. Oh, what could it hurt? My place is stressing me out.
