He leans in again and kisses my other cheek. “See you around.”
With that, he pulls his hand away and leaves. I watch him until he disappears at the end of my street.
Chapter Fifty-Two
Bode
We’re seated side byside at Christmas Eve supper. “I thought you would have brought Felix.”
She glares at me. “We’re just friends.”
“He wasn’t looking at you like you’re a friend,” I reply as she passes me the bowl of tomato sauce and meatballs.
She watches me spoon it over my noodles and then says, “You don’t either.”
I laugh loudly and Eli jerks his head up. “What?”
I shake my head. “Nothing.”
She shoots me a look, and I lower my voice. “That’s true.”
Brooklyn groans. “Oh my god, these noodles are insane.”
Juno smiles. We made them together this afternoon. We hardly spoke while we worked, but I still enjoyed being around her.
“So good,” Declan says.
“It’s a new Christmas tradition,” Zadie adds.
Juno nods. “Okay, I like that.”
Everyone eats in silence until Zadie sets down her fork and sighs loudly.
“Well, I’m dying to set someone up,” she says from the other end of the table. She’s looking around the table. “Juno, have you dated since Seth? I’m sure I can find someone.”
“I’m in Paris through the Spring. I doubt you have someone to set me up with in Paris,” Juno answers.
