“I’d join you, but I can’t move yet,” I say, stretching my arms over my head.
“I’ll miss you,” he says as he gets out of bed. I watch him walk naked across the bedroom and into the bathroom. I whistle at him. “That’s quite a view.”
I hear him laugh from the other room.
After a minute, I sit up and grab a piece of paper and pencil from the nightstand and begin to draw. When he comes out of the bathroom, towel low around his waist, he watches me for a moment. “What are you doing?”
I hold out the paper. “I made you something.”
He takes it and his eyes widen a little when he sees it.
It’s a little silly sketch of us on the Spanish steps. His eyes flash up to mine.
“Can you even tell what it is?” I ask. I’m not a great artist, but I do like to doodle.
“Yes.” He doesn’t peel his eyes off the paper.
“I thought you might want one with us in it,” I say, getting out of bed. “It’s nothing like what Maggie’s going to make, but...”
He cuts me off. “It’s perfect.”
Before I have a chance to walk to the bathroom, he grabs me and pulls me back into bed.

He smiles down at me. “Me too.”
He laughs and shakes his head.
“What?”
“I can’t believe you’re still going – actually I’m surprised you’re still standing after this week.”
