“He owns a kink club?”
She nodded.
“Did you two sleep together?”
“No. When he found me, I was messed up both physically and emotionally. He gave me the best room he had on another floor. He brought in a doctor that took care of me. He knew how scared I was. I would jump at shadows, so he put in several locks and was the only one with the keys. I felt safe for the first time in years.”
Macy tucked her hair behind her ear. “I’m glad you had him.”
“Me, too. He’s the brother I’ve always wanted.”
“Did he want more?” Macy asked.
She felt sorrow in her heart because of the pain she’d given him by not being together. She nodded. “Yes. But he never gave me a clue, and after Jeffrey…”
“Who’s Jeffrey?”
“He was a Dom in Kane’s club. I’d stayed out of the club for nearly two years, working for Kane in his office. I wanted to try going down to the club one night. I heard all the fun and watched the people on the monitors in his office. Kane found me a few outfits that hid my scars and put me with an older sub in their lounge to answer questions and watch people up close. I always knew Kane and a few other Doms that knew about me watched me like a hawk, so I felt safe. I was still terrified but fought it because I didn’t want to be a cripple my whole life.”
Cat sighed as she thought about her first night in the club. Initially, it felt like she was coming home.
“What happened to Jeffrey?” Macy asked.
“We were together for about a year. He was very sweet initially, then became more demanding, and he started messing with my emotions. I had attached myself to him so much that every awful word he yelled at me felt like a knife.”
“He’s the one that told you that you were inadequate or bullshit?”
She nodded. “I don’t blame him…”
“Don’t ever defend him. He should not have been a Dom.”
“It was hard for him. It took months before we could have sex, and it was vanilla, and he could tell I didn’t enjoy it.”
“That was his fault, Baby.”
She shook her head. “No, I’m frigid and broken inside.”
“Is that what he told you, too?”
She nodded. “After we broke up, he never came back to the club. I’ve got a suspicion that Kane kicked him out.”
“Good.”
“It wasn’t his fault.”
“Fuck, yes, it was,” Macy growled.
“Macy, you can’t fix what’s broken in me. It’s too deep and too damaged.”
“You’re not broken. Baby, you’ve had two fuckers torment you. The first was pure evil, and the second was a dipshit.”
She was surprised when she smiled.
“We’ll talk more about this. Do you feel anything after talking about it?” Macy asked.
She thought about it for a moment. He was right. She did feel some relief. She didn’t know if it was because of the talking or the fact Macy still held her and was angry at what she’d gone through. He made her feel like none of it was her fault. It was something she’d think about later. “Yes, I think I do,” she said.
“Good, we’ll keep it up, but I want you to consider talking to a counselor. I can find a good one around here, and I’ll even take you.”
