“Well, when I see a sub, I’ll surely tell them not to curse if there’s a Dom around. How’s that?” she said sarcastically.

“Hell, it’s going to be a long day,” he said as he looked up at the ceiling.

She shrugged. She let him drag her along and into the room she’d been working in before.

“I brought the brushes and rollers in here. I’ll finish the top part of the room if you do the bottom.”

“You’re really going to be here with me? All day?”

He put his hands on his hips. “Yeah, do you have a problem with that?”

She swallowed and shook her head. “No, it’s fine.”

He handed her a brush and a can. “Get to work.”

She turned and rolled her eyes and went over to the other side of the room and did the corners and edges as far up as she could reach without a ladder.

They worked all morning with very few words. At noon, Macy pulled the brush from her hands and wrapped it in plastic.

“Hey, I’m not done.”

“You are right now.”

“Why?”

He stood in front of her and cupped her face. “Did you eat breakfast? I’ll know if you lie.”

She gritted her teeth and shook her head. “Then it’s even more important to eat lunch. I can tell you didn’t get much sleep last night, so you’re running on fumes.”

“I’ll do better,” she said.

One of his brows lifted. “Oh, I guarantee it because I’ll be with you.”

“You can’t be with me all the time,” she growled.

He snatched her hand and started dragging her through the building.

“Macy, for God’s sake, slow down. Your legs are twice the length of mine.”

He did slow, but she still had to jog to keep from having him drag her. He got them out to his truck and lifted her into the passenger side.

“Hey, wait. I can go by myself.”

Macy slid into the driver’s side. “I know. What sounds good for lunch?”

She balled her hands into fists and took several breaths. There was no way he was going to change his mind, so she’d go and get it over with. “I don’t care.”

He glanced at her and then drove out of the parking lot.

She jumped when his hand fell on hers. She hadn’t realized she was still clenching them and relaxed when his thumb slid over her knuckles.

They stopped at a sandwich place in town. She didn’t even think of opening the door to get out. Macy lifted her out and took her hand. They both stood in line in the deli and looked up at the menu board. Her body softened when he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her in front of him. It was a protective stance she’d seen many Doms do with their subs, and she had to admit it made her feel safer surrounded by two hundred and thirty pounds of muscle.

Without realizing it, she rested against him. “What do you want, Baby?”

“Ham sandwich.”

He nodded and ordered for them. “I’ll have a six-inch ham sandwich.”
