Cat shook her head at the two.

“Are you done with your notes, Baby?” Macy asked.

“Yes. I’ll have questions for the guys later.”

“We’ll have a meeting in the morning,” Caden said.

“That works.”

“Let’s start on a room if you feel up to it,” Macy said.

“Yes. I like to paint,” she said.

Caden tsked and shook his head. “Something’s wrong with your girl, Macy. She’ll start talking tile and wallpaper and shit in no time.”

Macy chuckled, and she frowned.

“I better get back to work,” Caden said and walked out of the room.

Macy walked over to her and pulled her into his arms. His head dipped, and he took her lips like it would be painful to wait another moment to kiss her.

Her mind was befuddled when he raised his head after a moment.

“Please tell me you didn’t hurt him,” she said.

Macy tipped his head forward. “Okay. I didn’t hurt him.”

Her mouth dropped open. “You’re lying to me.”

“No, I’m telling you what you want to hear.”

He was going to drive her crazy.

“Let’s get to work,” she said.

“Okay.”

“We’re not finished with this talk,” she told him.

“Okay.”

Cat turned away from him and rolled her eyes. She couldn’t let Macy see them because it was one of a Dom’s pet peeves. She just had to realize he wouldn’t listen to her but didn’t want to upset her either. She’d take it because it showed he cared.

Chapter Seventeen

Macy rolled his eyes for the fourth time. He’d been ready to go to Nick and Janessa’s party for an hour, but Cat kept changing clothes, and nothing fit right.

“Babe, you’re going to look beautiful no matter what you wear.”

She came out of the closet with the same skirt but another shirt on. “You don’t understand, Macy. I’m so nervous that I’m nauseous.”

“Why?”

“These will be the first girls I can make friendships with.”

“You’ve never had a friend?”

“When I was a freshman in high school and then … you know what happened. I really want them to like me.”
