As Dante continues to speak, I realize that he is serious about his intentions. He wants to be a part of the baby's life and make things work between us, despite the challenges we face.

I take a deep breath and muster up the courage to speak my mind. "Dante, I appreciate everything you're saying, but I don't want to be dependent on your family's wealth. I want to be able to stand on my own two feet and take care of myself and the baby."

Dante looks at me with a mix of concern and understanding. "I know that, Ally," he says. "And I respect your independence. But please understand that I want to be a part of this child's life. I want to provide for you both and make sure you have everything you need."

I nod slowly, understanding his point of view. I appreciate his concern and willingness to take responsibility, but I don't want to be a burden to him or his family.

"We'll figure it out," I say softly. "But for now, I just want to focus on finishing my residency and preparing for the baby's arrival."

Dante smiles at me, his eyes filled with warmth and affection. "Of course," he says. "We'll take things one step at a time. And no matter what happens, I'll be here for you and the baby."

Dante

As we walk out of the restaurant, I feel a sense of relief washing over me. Ally and I have finally come to an agreement about the baby, and I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. But as we walk towards my car and in spite of our productive and friendly conversation, I continue to notice the uneasy look on Ally's face.

"Is everything okay?" I ask her, hoping that there isn't another issue that needs to be addressed.

"Yeah, everything's fine," she replies, but I can tell that something is bothering her.

"Are you sure?" I press, not wanting to leave anything unsaid.

"It's just my sister, Ashlee," she says, finally opening up. "She's been having a hard time lately and is always downcast when she gets back home, and I'm worried about her."

"I didn't know your sister lived with you," I say, surprised. I thought she had her own apartment.

"Yeah, she lives with me," Ally replies, giving me a small smile. "But don't worry about it. It's nothing serious."

I nod, but I can't shake the feeling that something is off. When we arrive at her place, Ally points me in the right direction, and I pull up in front of her building. As she opens the door to get out, I grab her hand, holding her back.

"What is it?" she asks, looking up at me with a mixture of confusion and curiosity.

"I don't want to leave things like this," I say, leaning in to kiss her.

At first, she seems hesitant, but then she leans into the kiss, and we kiss for what feels like an eternity. When she finally pulls away, she looks at me with a mischievous grin.

"Come on," she says, grabbing my hand and leading me inside.

As we walk into the apartment, I am surprised to see Ashlee sitting on the couch, watching TV. She looks up and smiles at us as we walk in.

"Hey, Ally," she says, giving her sister a quick hug. "Is this the guy from the club?"

"Yes. He is Dante," Ally says, gesturing towards me. "A close friend."

"Nice to meet you," I say, holding out my hand. Ashlee shakes it, and I can't help but notice the way she is looking at me. It is like she is sizing me up, trying to figure out who I am and what my intentions are.

We sit down on the couch, and Ally goes to the kitchen to get us some drinks. Ashlee and I sit in an awkward silence for a few minutes, neither of us knowing what to say.

"So, how do you know my sister?" she finally asks, breaking the silence.

"We work together," I say, hoping that will be enough to satisfy her curiosity.

"What kind of work do you do?" she asks, leaning in a little closer.

"I'm a doctor," I reply, trying to keep things vague.

"A doctor, huh?" she says, a small smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "That's pretty impressive."

I can tell that she is just playing around, and I chuckle at her game. I am here to see Ally, not her sister, but I don’t hope to fuck things up with her sister too.
