“Aurora fucking owns me. I would do anything for you and Cameron, but what I would do for her . . .”
“Kieran, man.”
His phone rings, and I know it’s Aurora from the way his breath hitches.
And instead of listening to her, he says, “I trusted you and you betrayed me. You know what that means.”

We remain at the compound, and I am in a state where I burst into laughter while drinking. Kieran and Cameron stare as if I’ve lost my mind. It’s possible. The more I try to push Chiara from my thoughts, the more she claws her way in.
“I never imagined I would see you sappy as fuck.”
“Cameron.”
We shout at him, and I say, “Your time to pay will come.”
“Fuck you, I am not getting married to become like you two.”
“We’ll find you one who will fart rainbows in your face,” I say, voice thick with sarcasm.
“No, I’ll pick her.”
“No, we will pick her for you,” Kieran says with a manic glint in his eyes.
“Why?”
He slams his palms on the desk. “Because you didn’t leave us any choice either.”
Cameron downs his glass, knowing he pulled strings behind our backs, and we let it slide. Kieran should have never ended up with Aurora. He did because of Cameron, cashing in on his one favor. When we started the syndicate, we vowed that each man gets a favor, a favor synonymous to a blood oath. Fucking blood oaths we have to respect, regardless of the consequences. I ended up with Chiara because Cam piqued my curiosity with him telling stories about her. Ever since I woke up, I have been in a comatose state. I’m a decapitated warrior searching for his sword.
When my phone rings, her voice seeps through.
“I offer you a deal.”
Call me shocked.
“I’m listening.”
“Me for Hayden’s life.”
“You got yourself a deal.”
Silence rings, deafening between us. I cut the call before she could say more. A business transaction. My obsession wins.
I step inside the conference room, taking the knife from my jacket. And now I’m using my favor for the same woman who drives me fucking insane. I’m a fucking idiot of the highest level.
Kieran’s brows raise in apprehension, and Cameron eyes us with almost boredom as if he expected this.
“What the fuck are you doing?”
“Getting my favor.”
“And what is that?”
“We won’t harm Hayden.”
Kieran shoots up from his chair and grips my collar.
