She smiles and blows it out. “I was just using it as a beacon for you.”
I crawl out and we sit like we used to. She leans into my side, sighing contentedly. “The house sold.” The one thing her mother did right was pay off that house. I grunt and hold her tighter.
“The money will help pay for the rest of my schooling.”
I kiss the top of her head. “As long as you’re happy then I’m happy, but you know money means nothing to me. I wish you would accept my help.”
She turns to me. “I am, as much as I can. You pay for everything but my courses.”
“Are you happy?” I ask.
She tilts her head up toward mine, her eyes shining with emotion, and gives me that heartbreaking smile of hers.
“Happiest I have ever been.”
I sigh with relief. “Me too.”
We both look up into the night sky, seeing the same stars we did when we were young. We’ve come full circle. “I love you,” I tell her, never being able to say those words enough.
“I love you more.” Her body leans into me, relaxed and content.
My hand slips into my pocket and I bring out a diamond ring. “I know it’s not the same one, but it’s one of a kind, like you. Demi, will you please wear my ring and be my wife?”
Her hands shake as I slip the ring onto her slender finger.
“Yes, yes!” she wraps her arms around kissing the Hell out of me.
“I want to marry you tomorrow, because I plan to put a baby into that sweet stomach tonight, or as soon as I can.”
“What happened to you not wanting to bring children into a world like ours?”
“Babe, all I care about is you by my side. Kids would be a bonus to the arrangement.”
Demi
Dressed in the most perfect soft white material, I look at my reflection in the mirror. My hands slide down my hips as I admire my wedding dress. It was over-the-top expensive, and I refused to even consider it, but then it showed up in my closet anyway. Dante assures me he has no idea what it looks like. He told the bridal shop that they were to make sure I walked out of there with the dress of my dreams.
The neckline is a semi sweetheart, leaving my shoulders bare. The material is snug at my waist before it flows out. My hair rests in curls over my right shoulder, gathered in a simple, low ponytail.
“Dad is going to pick you up and walk you right out of the church when he sees how beautiful you look,” Oakleigh says in awe as she stares at my reflection too.
Turning around, a wave of emotions overwhelms me. I never thought I’d ever get married at all, and here I am getting ready to marry the man of my dreams.
Oakleigh hugs me. “I stole the church keys. I plan to lock the doors the moment you step onto the red carpet so dad can’t steal you away from everyone.”
I hold her back, chuckling at how much she can be like Dante. “You ready?” I ask.
My stomach flutters with excitement as Oakleigh opens the door for us and we step out of the small bridal room. Soft music floats out of the main room. Oakleigh pulls a key out of the pocket of her dress and locks the door just like she said she would. “Do you want to keep the key or should I?” she asks.
“I’ll let you do the honors.”
We nod to the man waiting to open the doors for us. Oakleigh goes first and I wait for my song. When it comes on, I take a deep breath. Holding my flowers with both hands, I step from behind the door to the middle of the doorway. Everyone is already standing.
My eyes drift immediately to Dante. He looks stunning in a suit at the end of the aisle. I step in and take a few steps. Dante is already walking down the red carpet. Instead of lifting me over his shoulders like a barbarian and running outside, he loops his arms around mine and walks with me down the aisle.
He gives me a soft peck on the lips before stepping into place in front of the wedding officiant. “You are breathtaking, Demi. It’s taking all of my will power not to take you into a back room and show you what you do to me.” My neck heats and it makes its way into my cheeks. “Your blushing is making my cock harder for you.”
The man performing our ceremony clears his throat and Dante steps back, keeping my hands in his.
