Nic chuckled. “Indeed, I do. Ember, if we come together and complete the bond that we started all those years ago, you will be the Nightmare princess. There’s no going back. Deciding that in your current state might not be wise.”

“What does being your princess entail?” I forced myself to think of something other than getting someone’s cock in my aching pussy.

“Truthfully, the biggest commitment is spending time in Nightmare, enriching the dreamlands with your energy. It doesn’t mean you have to stay forever. It doesn’t even mean you have to keep sleeping with me.”

I snorted at that. “Unless you’re terrible in bed, that’s not going to be an issue if we do this.”

“I hope not,” Nic replied. “I’ve not been with anyone else, so I can’t say for sure. Though, I’m familiar with the process. It’s a common theme in dreams.”

That startled me. I unburied my face from the blankets and turned to look at him.

He had a faint smile on his face.

“Oh. Well. You’re a great kisser, so I doubt you’ll suck at the rest.”

Nic’s smile broadened. “I leave it up to you to decide if you want to find out. I agree with Geraint. I can share with him if that’s what you want.”

I looked at my knight. He nodded encouragement. “I’m fine with it, really, Spark.”

“Things in Nightmare are more complicated than normal. I can’t say what you’ll have to get involved with if you become our princess in truth, not just in name. I had hoped to leave you out of the conflict, but I don’t think I can. Robby was right. We are weak right now, and together we are stronger. We have to stop Baz and whatever is going on. The nothingness has gotten worse since you left.”

“Where is Robby?” I hadn’t even thought of him earlier.

“Looking for the real Baz. We think Dio is in the conscious realm. Baz trapped me while I was attempting to rescue Mary so I could come look for Dio. Instead, she rescued me.”

Ignoring the aching need between my legs as best I could, I thought about Mary’s terrifying visage, and how nice she truly was, and the sacrifice she’d made to get Nic to safety. I thought about the sex demons, and the crazy landscape, and the wolves, and even the terrifying creatures that had helped me escape fake Baz in the first place. The strange darkness of Nightmare, and the flat colors of the boundary lands. I thought of how much I wanted to see Dream. The creatures in Nightmare had likely given their lives for me, not knowing a thing about me other than that I was their princess. I owed it to them to help put things to rights in Nightmare. The simple path and returning to the life that I’d created would be easier, but I’d played a silly childhood game and inadvertently bound myself to the princes of Nightmare. I could still have the life I wanted, after I helped save a land that had given so much to save me.

Really, in the end, there wasn’t a lot left to debate.

“I’ll be your Nightmare princess.”

Nic

Time stopped when Ember said yes. Though I finally decided I wanted her, I hadn’t expected this moment to ever happen. I stared into her beautiful brown eyes, overcome with emotion.

“It’s not very late yet,” Geraint said. “I’ll keep watch. Take your time.”

“Geraint.” Ember pulled her gaze away from mine and turned to look at her knight. Her brow furrowed with worry.

“Ember, it’s okay. This works for everyone. We’ll figure out the details later. I’ll keep an eye on things.”

“Knight,” I said, suddenly needing to make sure he understood how immediate the danger was. “It’s possible they know Dio is in the conscious realm. They’ll be trying to get rid of all of us now, and they’ve recruited some of the more powerful nightmares to their side. Watch your back.”

“I will,” he assured us. “And I’ll watch yours. Now enjoy yourselves.”

He exchanged another long look with Ember before turning away and leaving us alone.

Ember returned her attention to me.

“Are you sure you’re up for this?” Ember asked. “You were pretty beat up when we dragged you back here.”

“I’m most certainly up for this,” I replied with a mischievous smile.

Her eyes widened, and she laughed. “Okay.”

“You’re sure you want this?” I had to ask one more time.

Instead of answering, her clothes melted away. I hadn’t realized she’d been wearing the clothing she’d acquired in Nightmare.
