I smiled and put an arm around her, though inside I was trying to figure out what tour we should go on, because I certainly hadn’t planned this out. If I was going to die for her, I would just have to make every minute we had together count. Tomorrow I was going to kiss her, and maybe tomorrow evening I’d take her to bed, and if I didn’t screw up either of those things too badly, then we’d do it again and again until the princes came to claim my spark and take her away from me.

Geraint

Seeing my marks on Ember’s neck did something to me I wasn’t sure how to describe. It was a possessive feeling that slid through me and gave me ideas about fighting Nic and the other two princes, despite knowing they’d end me with no effort on their part. They’d made me to protect Ember against normal threats, not Nightmare Princes. If I had known what we were going to face on the other side of the mirror, I wouldn’t have let Baz’s minions take us in the first place. Not that I was certain I could have countered that ray gun they’d pulled, but I would have tried harder. That mistake would haunt me, probably until the moment Nic killed me for marking his princess.

Ember didn’t think he was going to keep us apart, but there was no way he would let me continue to be with my spark. Hopefully, she would forgive me for being a little rough with her. I almost never left marks since so much of her body was on display when we performed.

I hoped she forgave me for a lot of things.

I watched her dress in the clothing they’d left. Of course, the beings that had left it were sex demons, so she looked like she was getting ready to perform for an adult show. Not that I was complaining. My fingers itched to remove the things she’d already put on and take her to bed properly this time. Once she finished dressing, she wrinkled her nose in annoyance and shut her eyes. The clothing she wore melded into a more practical set of yoga pants and a long-sleeved t-shirt in muted greens for color. That she had already learned to use some of the land’s powers consciously didn’t surprise me. She’d always done well at things she put her mind to. The t-shirt didn’t hide the bite marks. What had I been thinking? I didn’t regret baiting the shadow prince, but I probably would pay for it.

“Are you going to stand there and stare all naked and tempting, or are you going to put some clothing on?”

My dick twitched. Fuck it. They could wait for us.

I grinned and stalked toward her. The worst part of being separated from Ember, besides not knowing if she was okay or not, was not knowing if she would forgive me. Or if I’d be able to hold her again.

Her welcoming expression just made me harder, especially when her clothing melted away as she applied the power to the material. Her pupils dilated with lust, and the flick of her tongue across her lips nearly undid me.

Ember came into my arms just as someone knocked on the door. “Walls aren’t that thick, Knight, Spark. We know you’re out of the shower. Get out here,” Robby shouted.

“Fuck you, Robby,” Ember shouted back.

“Leave them alone,” I heard Nic say more quietly.

“His highness says to continue to fuck like rabbits, but make it quick. We do have things to sort out,” Robby called.

Ember sighed and let her head fall forward.

“Up to you.” I ran my hands down her arms.

“This is all so confusing,” she admitted.

I folded her into my arms, trying to comfort her. The effort was marginally hindered by my hard dick pressed against her stomach.

She laughed and shifted, rubbing against me.

“It knows what it wants,” I said. “And so do I.” Though I still expected Nic to come busting through the door, or pop out of a shadow or something, and kick my ass. “I’m sorry, Ember. I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you everything. I don’t expect you to pick between me and the princes. I’m just glad we’re getting more time together before they tell me off.”

“If they make me choose, I’ll always choose you, Geraint,” she whispered. “Regardless of why, you’ve been there for me most of my life. You’re my partner and I trust you more than anyone. I love you, and that’s never going to change. I don’t care if I’m suddenly dream royalty and you’re only a knight. You’re my knight.”

My heart stuttered in my chest at her words. The lump in my throat made it hard to get the rest of the words out, but I pushed them past the emotion. “Spark, Nightmare needs its princess. Maybe now more than ever with the threat it currently faces.”

“Nic said he knew a way to dissolve our supposed marriage. We just have to be careful how we do it, so I don’t get trapped here.” Ember didn’t sound happy at the prospect, but she clung to me, shifting back and forth, and rubbing her stomach against my dick. It was getting difficult to think, and I grabbed her ass to make her stop.

She took the opportunity to jump lightly, and I reflexively caught her while she wrapped her legs around my waist.

The grin on her face distracted me further.

“I’ve missed being in your arms so much, Knight. I can’t give you up.”

“I don’t want to give you up, either, Ember. But I also don’t want to see Dream wiped out. Besides, I’ve seen the way you and Nic look at each other. He’s certainly caught your interest.”

She sucked her lower lip into her mouth, eyes downcast. “I kissed him. I’m sorry, Geraint. I couldn’t figure out how to syphon the shadow essence from him, so we had to be a little more direct. I needed to repair the arch so we could rescue you.”

“Spark, it’s okay.” Surprisingly, the idea of her kissing the shadow prince wasn’t bothering me as much as I thought it would.

She raised her beautiful brown eyes and met my gaze. “You’re sure?”
