Dancing, drinking, singing,
Not wanting the night to end.
And then, I met you,
On the edge of the shore.
Eyes so blue,
Most stunning I’d seen.
Had you been heaven-sent?
Oh yeah.
I couldn’t believe, couldn’t believe me luck.
You said you’d be mine,
For all of time.
But just as summer ended,
You disappeared.
You left me a note,
Saying we were dead.
Over. Done. Through. What the...
I was broken and wounded.
Dizzy and blinded.
I didn’t know what I was supposed to do.
But...
If somebody had warned me,
That love made you crazy,
I would never have fallen for you.
If somebody told me,
That love made your heart break,
I would never have fallen for you.
I smirked as Flint sang the lyrics. Yep. Love made you crazy. So did liking someone you could never have. For the first time in years, I couldn’t wait to go back to LA and start my new job so I could put more distance between Lewis and me.
The guys played four more new songs, rounding out their set with a harder rock track, “Midnight.”
As Cole’s final strike to the cymbal reverberated through the air, everyone clapped and cheered and whistled. Jumping to his feet, Falcon, who wore a swanky leather jacket and skinny jeans better than Jon Bon Jovi did, led his team over to talk to the guys. Blake joined them as did a proud and excited-looking Everhide.
Gena nudged my arm. “Lewis is awesome, isn’t he?”
