“So what do we do about it?” Taylor asks at last. “We can sit and sulk and say that we’re the ones at fault and we fucked up, but how is that going to change anything? I’m getting pretty sick of us just sitting around and putting up with this. I want action. I want to get answers, and I want to figure out where we stand with her once and for all.”

“I think we all feel that way at this point,” I say. “I know you guys are tired of the guessing game, and so am I. I don’t want to keep wondering if we’re going to have her one day then see her running off with someone else the next. I want answers, dammit!”

I hit my fist into my open hand for emphasis, and both Taylor and Cory nod in agreement.

“The only thing we can do is call her out,” Cory says. “It doesn’t look to me like she’s planning on coming clean about anything to us, so we might have to take the reins on this one and ask her outright what’s going on.”

“And I say we finally make her make a choice,” I add.

“What do you mean?” Taylor asks.

“I mean she was saying that she’s not sure he’s the one she wants to be with the other day, then today she’s kissing him? No. She’s not going to have her three-tiered cake with us and eat it with him, too. She can’t have both ways with this one. It’s either us or him, and I think it’s time we find out what she’s going to choose,” I say.

Again, they both nod, and I know they feel the same way about this that I do. It’s not that we want to have the conversation, but we have to or we’re essentially signing up for the game she’s playing. And none of us want to deal with that. This has turned into a lot more than just having sex or tutoring, and we really are ready to commit to her.

“So we have the talk tonight?” I ask.

“I think we should,” Taylor says. “Though we have to be ready to hear something we might not want to hear.”

“If she picks him, she picks him, but at least we have an answer at that point,” Cory says.

“That’s where I’m at with it,” I agree. “I don’t want her to tell us that she’s chosen to be with him rather than with us, but if that’s the case then we’re adults and we’ll deal with it. But I’m not going to keep wondering where I stand with her. It’s driving me insane, and I’m sick of it. I want to have actual answers, and tonight, we’re getting them.”

“If we’re all in agreement, I say we text her and tell her to come over to our place to talk tonight,” Cory says.

“Should we pick her up?” Taylor asks.

“Yes,” I say. “If she agrees to come over and talk tonight, then we’ll pick her up just the same as always and go from there. I don’t want this to turn into an argument with her if it doesn’t have to. If we talk to her and she says she wants us over him, then it’s not going to look that great for us if we picked her up and started a fight in the process, you know?”

“Or if we made her get an Uber to come over,” Cory replies.

“Exactly,” I say.

“Alright, I’ll text her now and see if she can come over tonight,” Taylor says.

“I’ll do it,” I say.

“No, I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Taylor argues. “You’re still pissed off after what you saw, and I don’t trust you to leave it at just asking her to come over and talk. We don’t want this to turn into something it doesn’t have to, remember?”

“Okay fine, but make sure she knows it’s important,” I say.

“I will,” Taylor says.

He texts her, and after we wait for a few minutes, she replies.

“She’s available,” he says. “I’ll let her know we’ll pick her up around six as usual.”

“Great,” I say.

“It’s settled then,” Cory announces. “Tonight we’re going to get to the bottom of this once and for all.”

“Once and for all,” Taylor echoes as he puts his phone back in his pocket.

We talk a little longer, deciding how we’re going to approach the topic with her tonight. It’s not likely to be an easy conversation, but we aren’t worried about that. We just want to have direct answers and figure out what we’re doing next.

I still hope we end the night with her choosing us.

It makes me sick to think of losing her, even if I am pissed off after what I saw earlier.
