I worked, and since his hand was on my head, he had that upper body movement like he was really doing this to himself. He groaned again. All the tells of his body signaled it was coming. He bit harder on his lower lip, arched back, and then the screen went dark, but I heard him say as he came, “Harpy.”
A shudder of pure bliss rolled through me. His phone rang. Of course, it did. She missed it. I said, “Answer that.”
I got up and headed to his bathroom as he took his call. I heard her say, “What happened?”
“Thumb. Too much. So. Um. Yeah. Night.” He disconnected that call as I stepped into the room, using his toothbrush to brush my teeth. He asked, “Is that mine?”
I nodded and, around a mouthful of toothpaste, said, “Yeah. It was also your dick right here a minute ago. You good?”
He cracked up and nodded. “Yeah, baby. I’m great.”
I rinsed and then moved to get into bed with him. “Scoot over.”
I cuddled up. He moved his hand lower, and I moved it back. “I’m tired. I have to make breakfast for them in the morning. You want?”
He nodded.
I said around a yawn, “Okay.”
Tituss pulled me in closer and slid his thigh between my legs, lining me up stomach to stomach with him. I hugged him close, situated my nose against his chest, and closed my eyes. I had him for a couple more years. She would have him the rest of their lives. I wondered if the next time he talked to her, he could find out what kind of vibrator she used. Seemed to be quick and efficient. Right now. I had her man, and he rarely made it quick for me though he was very efficient.
The next morning, we were almost through breakfast. We being Tituss, Dane, and Rip, when a knock sounded, and we all turned to see who was opening the door. It was only locked when we were all away or at night. These were prime hours, and most of the house who had classes on Friday morning was gone, the others still sleeping, and those awake and here were trying to stay out of the way of these two and the little one’s bonding time.
“Hello?” she called.
“Fuck no.” Dane stood up. I was ahead of him, so I saw her first. I gulped. Damn. She was like…runway model, beautiful.
“Essie!” Rip jumped down and ran out to greet her with a smile.
“Ripley!” She smiled down at him, started to go to her knee as her arms opened wide.
“No.” That voice stopped both of them and made me jerk at his side. “No.”
“I just wanted to say hi to him.” She looked down, sadness in her expression. “I would see him at the game tonight anyway. I thought this would be better.”
“Hi.” Rip waved and then went to stand next to his dad, where he reached up and took Dane’s hand.
“Hellos have been said. Leave.” He pointed. “Never again, Essie. Understand?”
She sort of rolled her eyes and said, “I—”
“No.” He shook his head. He looked down and said, “Once a woman decides she doesn’t want to be with you, tells you this, you believe her. Don’t let it bother you, Son. There are a million of Essie out there in the world.” And to add some salt in that wound, he said, “But only one Hoppy. Go finish your breakfast. Hoppy?”
“Come on, Buddy.” I reached his direction, and Dane escorted the supermodel out of our home. I was sure I looked as stunned by the thought, the whole bizarre situation, as I felt.
Tituss said, “I tried not to eat the bacon, but—”
Rip laughed and got back into his seat. “Give it back.”
Tituss looked at it and then sighed, “All right.”
I smiled at him. He was going to be a really great dad someday. There was a time when I had all sorts of crazy ideas about what our future would look like. I was standing behind Rip’s chair, admiring the man loading up more eggs on his fork, when another man tugged at the back of my shirt, and I took two steps back and then out of the room as he said, “Tituss—”
“Got him,” he called back.
I was tugged to Dane’s room, and when he shut the door, he put his hand on my head and said, “Swallow me.”
The thrill of danger sort of ran through me, and I looked at him a bit defiantly, but then I saw a flash of something vulnerable there, so I licked my lips and said in a husky, purposeful whisper, “Yes, Daddy.”
