"He got me fired!" It's the first thing out of her mouth before she bursts into tears again. Right behind my sister is Colm who doesn't look sorry at all. I can't picture Colm being a douche just to be a douche.

"That fucker was lucky I didn't kill him." My eyes go round at Colm's words. He seems so laid back and...non-violent. Something must have happened with Jeff, Harley's boss.

"What happened?"

"What happened is that asshole got me fired! You know how Jeff has that thing about family obligations taking away from work time?" I nod because I remember that was one of the reasons Harley was looking for a new place to work. "This idiot comes in and tells everyone that he's my boyfriend and Jeff lost it. He fired me right away and told me I wouldn't work in the profession again."

"What?!" That doesn't even sound legal.

"I am your boyfriend." Colm shouts like saying it louder might make everything better.

"You are not my boyfriend." My sister spits out.

"My dick was out in the same room you were in last night. That makes us boyfriend and girlfriend. You're just going to have to deal."

Mine and Harley's mouth both fall open. Cade steps in front of his brother before Harley can go for him, "Why don't you take Harley to the bedroom so you guys can talk?" He finishes with a mumbled sentence that sounds something like him kicking Colm's ass while we're gone. I give him a grateful nod and quickly yank my sister down the hall towards Cade's room.

Once inside with the door shut I just wait for her to tell me what she needs from me. I don't have to wait long before she launches into a rant about stupid men who are idiots. She finally sits down on the side of the bed with me.

"Yes, but what about that comment about Colm's, um, stuff being out and you being there?" That's the burning question I want answered. Did my sister lose her virginity too?

"That you're a virgin." I finish for her. She nods.

"Men get weird when they find out and I'm way too old to be one and I...I really like Colm and I want him to like me but if he knew I was all talk he wouldn't want to take the time. So," she shrugs, "I sucked his dick."

We don't keep anything from each other but I didn't think she would tell me in quite so blunt a way. I understand that's Harley's way but still. "Colm isn't like that. You don't know if he'll run once he finds out you're a virgin or not because you're not giving him a chance." I did the same thing to Cade and look at how that turned out for me.

"From a job you were going to quit as soon as you found another one because you hated it."

She huffs out an angry sigh, "Yeah, as soon as I found another. News flash, Harper! I don't have another one. So now I'm jobless and heartbroken all at the same time."

There's a small knock on the door that has Harley jumping and for one second I wonder how we switched places and now I'm the calm one. Colm is on the other side looking like he might cry so I let him in. "Can I speak with your sister for a moment alone?"

I nod and walk by him giving his arm a little squeeze as I go, showing him that I understand he can make all this up to Harley even if she doesn't think he will right now. A man doesn't look at a woman like Colm looks at Harley and not want to give that woman everything she could ever ask for.
