Page 88 of When Sinners Dare

“I’m not going anywhere.”

“Good. Big strong guy like you can’t die anyway. Who would dare try?” My brow cocks, ‘cause I distinctly remember several times where her brother looked like he might. “What? I’m safe with you, right? I know it, and you know it. Let them try.”

“Preferably not tonight.”

“Hmmm.” Both her hands link round my neck. “How about we go fuck in an alley somewhere.”

A chuckle rumbles through me. “Alright little lady, I think you’ve had enough to drink.” She pouts and lets me half pick her up and spin us towards the road.

“No. No, no, no, no. Down that alley over there.” She tries tugging me, and damn if I’m not more interested than I should be. “In fact, I know a better one,” she says, breaking out of my hold. “We can do what we did that first night.”

“Mariana, no.”

“Well, I’m going,” she says, skipping away from me along the busy road. “Don’t tell me you’re afraid of the dark all of a sudden.” She turns and winks, spinning herself away again. “Big boy got all scared of the dark corners? Maybe I’ll find someone else down there.”

I’m literally growling as I follow her.

I shift my dick in my pants and look around, checking as the sidewalk gets quieter and the streetlights get dimmer. I don’t care a damn where I fuck her, but this life she’s led me to is nothing but carnage and problems, and I’m waiting on it with every next breath lately.

By the time she’s got wherever she’s leading me to, it’s damn near silent other than the occasional car driving by. She keeps backing up in front of me, deeper and deeper into an unknown alley, and swings her fine ass around to tease me into following. “Come on big boy,” she says, beckoning me. “Let’s see what you’ve got tonight.” She gets her phone out and flaunts it. “Maybe I could film it. Something to watch later on.” My lips tip up as she sways and drops one of the straps on her top. “I like the kind of dirty you bring.”

“You won’t like the kind of handling you get if you keep winding me up.”

“Well, we are in the dark. And it’s rough out here on these streets, so …”

Done with being teased, I make a grab for her and push her at a wall.

A breath puffs out of her as our mouths connect, and she wraps herself straight around me for contact. I’m pretty quick to get all over her, hand straight on her breast and mouth dropping across her face so I can get at her nipple.

“SHIT!” she snaps. I keep mouthing at it, roughly biting down. “No. Kai.” She pushes at me. “KAI. STOP.” I look up at her and notice her looking over my shoulder and still trying to push me off her. My head turns, and I find five guys coming out of the gloom towards us. Doesn’t take long to notice exactly who’s at the front of them.

I turn fully and back up against her. "One fucking day," grumbles from me, quietly. "Just one without shit and problems."

Jonny keeps walking, with Creep and Dexter flanking him and some other dicks flanking them. Mariana shifts behind me, trying to get us back towards the light. Too late for that.

“Jonny.”

“Kai.”

“What do you want?” Pretty fucking obvious, given the crowding line they’re choosing, but I need time and five is a lot to take on while trying to keep her safe.

I let her keep inching sideways, hoping she might be able to run for it.

“Think you know, Kai. Two beatings needs dealing with. Had to come find you. Ash sends her regards.” I flick my gaze to Dexter, watching him cut off our exit route, then look the other way. Creep’s covered that.

“Look, man.” I fucking hate myself for trying to cool this down, but there’s no choice. “You pissed on Ash. What was I supposed to do?”

“Stay the fuck out of my life. I gave you that first one, but you came back.” The dark shadow of his face opens up fully, and I notice the state of it from the last beating I gave him. Can’t help smiling about that a little, and with this booze inside me there’s no hope of containing any violence I’m revving up for.

“You let her go first. We’ll talk after that.” One of the guys near Dexter gets closer to him, making damn sure that exit route’s blocked. “Don’t even think it, Jonny. She gets touched, and I’m going to lose it. No one lives after that, and you know it.” He laughs, like he knows I’ve got no hope of achieving that while she’s here.

“Get the bitch,” he says.

I glance sideways at Dexter, watching him get closer to us. “Don’t, Dex. Don’t make me kill you.” Maybe there’s half a second’s worth of thought on his face, but it doesn’t last. It can’t. This is what gang life is and what Jonny says goes.

“You need to back the hell up,” Mariana snarls behind me, shifting away from him. “Do you know who I am?”

“You think I give a fuck about you, bitch?” Jonny says. “I’ll deal with you later. Sure you'll be all kinds of fun.”
