I heaved a heavy sigh and hung my head in my hands.
Somehow.

BROCK
Asetting sun colored the New York skyline a lavender splashed crimson as my plane touched down in La Guardia. Another day, another trip across the pond.
The moment I stepped off the plane, I got on my phone. My driver held the door to the limo open as I paused, wind whipping through my hair. A jet streaked by in the distance.
“Hello?”
I smiled instantly at the sound of Grace’s voice.
“Good evening, beautiful. What’s going on with you?”
“Nothing much. I just stepped in to help teach an afternoon class, but we’re wrapping up now. Did you make it back to this side of the Atlantic yet?”
“I did indeed.”
Her voice held a curious note I couldn’t figure out.
Is she freaked out because I dropped the L word? Or is there something else going on?
“Hey, Miss Grace, are you talking to your rich ass boyfriend?”
“Hush, Reggie. Don’t you have thigh inductions to perform for being late?”
I chuckled as I finally got into the back of the limo, much to my driver’s relief.
“One of your students, I presume?”
“Yeah, one of the mouthier ones.”
She spoke louder, as if to make sure Reggie heard her too.
“He’d be one of our top cavaliers if he’d put half as much effort into dancing as he did making smart ass remarks.”
“Well, look at his teacher. You kind of tend to get snarky at times.”
She laughed, and I heard a door slam. I pictured her heading inside of her office for privacy. The echo in her voice confirmed it.
“Guilty as charged. So what’s up?”
“I was wondering if you’d like to join me for dinner.”
“Iamfeeling peckish.”
“Well, we can’t have that. We don’t want you being peckish. I’ll be there soon.”
“Where, the center? I just taught a dance class, I haven’t had time to go home and change–”
“It will be fine. We’re having a meal at my west side condo. My personal chef is already preparing it.”
Grace’s laugh had an edge to it.
“I don’t know what’s more unbelievable. That you have a private chef already working on our dinner, or the fact you have yet another condo I’ve never been to.”
