Page 90 of Worth the Risk

“How have you been?”

A look of disdain crosses her face. “You see me after five years, and you want to know howI’vebeen?”

What the fuck is wrong with her?We always got along fine. I figure she must be mad about Kylie. She has no right to be upset with me. Kylie was the one telling one man she loved him while fucking his best friend.

Just then, the door behind me opens, and the woman I was just with exits and links a hand through my arm.

“How about that drink, baby?” she coos.

I forgot all about her when I bumped into Sierra.

“Why don’t you head to the bar? I’ll meet you there.”

“Okay.” After giving Sierra a once-over, she sashays away.

Sierra looks at the bathroom we just left and says, “I see you went back to your old ways.”

Ignoring the jab, I say, “I asked how you are doing. I’m not sure why you’re so mad.”

Her expression turns murderous, and I still don’t understand why. “You have a lot of fucking nerve, Leo. Shouldn’t you be asking howsheis doing after you left? I can’t believe I ever encouraged Ky to give you a chance. If I had one inkling that you were a man of such low integrity and responsibility, I would have encouraged her to run the other fucking way.”

Me? Low on integrity and responsibility?I owe Kylie nothing. I was all in with her. She was all in with being vindictive and sleeping with my best friend.

“I am a man with integrity and responsibility. Have you asked your friend the same questions? It was her fucking around, not me.”

“After what I just said, that is the only thing you have to say? She has taken responsibility, but you haven’t.”

“I may have played a part, but she only has herself to blame.”

“Played a part? That’s it? You played a part. She was left alone to pick up the pieces, asshole.”

Damn, she’s pissed. She acts like I fucked up. Sure, I slept with Beth prior to being with Kylie, and I admit I was wrong not to tell her, but it was Kylie and Nash who betrayed me.

“She sure as hell should. I owe her nothing. I’m only glad I left when I did before she fucked up my life any further.” Kylie ruined me.

I’m pretty confident Sierra wants to smack me as her hand is twitching. “So that’s how you consider her… that sweet girl that you have nothing to do with… as someone who fucked up your life?”

“I barely made it out of that shit show intact. How else would I consider her?” I say and recall something. “Her and Nash hooked up again even after that night.” Sierra is Kylie’s best friend, but how can’t she see that what Kylie did ruined us, not me?

“No, they haven’t. They’re just friends.”

Angered at the thought of them together, I lash out. “Everyone needs a friend, especially one with good benefits. I should have been smart and had it like that myself. If I remember correctly, Kylie gave good benefits.”

Crack. My cheek stings and my head flies to the side.

I should have been prepared for that.

“You don’t fucking deserve them!” She throws one last glare in my direction and storms off back to the bar.

I rub my cheek.I don’t deserve them?

More like Kylie and Nash don’t deserve me. This is all on them.

Fuck this shit, and fuck Kylie. I head out to the bar and right up to the blonde I was in the bathroom with earlier. “Let’s go.” She follows me to the door, and for some reason, I search for Sierra on my way out.

When I find her, she salutes me with her middle finger and mouths, “Fuck you.”

I salute her back.
