Page 16 of Worth the Risk

If she’s getting an orgasm, it won’t be from him. I’ll be handling that.

“Has someone finally cracked the force field around that heart of yours? If I didn’t know better, I would say not only did you not like that bartender flirting with Kylie, but you like Kylie more than you realize or care to cop to.”

I admit I have a strong reaction to her. Outside of that, I’ll never allow myself to care about any woman. I’ve seen what love does to a person, how it destroys them… how it ruined and destroyed my family. I’ll never put myself in a position like that again.

The bartender comes back with our tray of drinks, and I throw him a death glare. He must be smart because he scurries off to help another customer.

Nash laughs before heading for the booth the girls are sitting in. Once there, Nash slides into one end beside Sophie, and I slide in beside Kylie. She peers at me, blushes, and quickly averts her gaze.Oh, sweetheart, I felt your want in our kiss. No need to be bashful now.

By the end of the night, I’ll be tasting that sweet mouth again.

“I don’t think we’ve been officially introduced yet. I’m Nash,” he says to Sierra and Kylie.

“I’m Sierra, and this is my friend, Kylie.”

“Nice to meet…” he starts saying, but I tune him out, distracted by a scent that’s surrounding me. It reminds me of the beach—a bit of coconut mixed with a sweet-smelling perfume.

Leaning in closer to Kylie, I breathe in her scent. She notices and twists in her seat to regard me. Once again, when our eyes are locked, the other people in the room are forgotten. Sexual energy sizzles between us, and it takes everything in me not to take her into the bathroom and have another taste of her luscious mouth.

I lean in closer to her to get a taste of her lips.

“So, Kylie, what are you studying at college?” Sophie breaks the spell, and Kylie startles at her question. Amber’s expression tells me she is a bit displeased too.

What’s her deal? She has been acting differently for the past two days.

“I just finished my third year toward my bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Next term, I’ll start my student teaching. I’m excited.”

“What made you pick that career path?” Sophie asks.

“Honestly, I’ve always enjoyed working with children. As soon as I was old enough, I started babysitting. I loved helping with their homework and educating them when they were stuck and needed help. It was the next logical step. Plus, I love children,” Kylie explains.

“Do you have any siblings?” Sophie asks.

“No, but being an only child, I sometimes wished I had a brother or sister.” Peering over at Sierra, she adds, “But I do have you, and I couldn’t ask for a better friend. I’d be lost without you.” She blows Sierra a kiss.

“I love you, girl,” Sierra responds with a wink.

I take that opportunity to think about Sophie. My sweet sister. I know I would be lost without her. We’re close and have been each other’s rock through the hard times. Nobody can break our bond, and I can’t imagine a world without her in it. If I had been an only child, who knows where I would be now. We both had to step up and lean on each other for strength when our family shattered.

Sad memories take my mind to a place I don’t like to visit, and I refuse to let them drag me down. What’s done is done, and I can’t change the hurt of the past.

I shake the melancholy off and realize Kylie is staring at me. She must have caught my despondent change in demeanor because the next thing I know, she takes my hand under the table and gives it a little squeeze of support.

Up until this point, any contact between us has been sexual in nature, but this contact does not convey that at this moment. Her touch has comforted and soothed me.Is she able to see what I’ve always hidden from everyone else? What I observe in this moment is her heart. This girl is not just beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well. Her expression is sincere, and a calmness settles inside me.

Conversations and drinks flow after that, and I gather myself so I’m in the moment with everyone. When Kylie is talking, I zone out and try to figure out the pull I have toward her. I wish everyone would leave so I could get her alone. The way she speaks, moves, and laughs has me wanting to get close to her.I like everything about her.

I remember her kiss, and it has me wanting more. Unable to resist touching her for a moment longer, I pull my hand from the top of the table and discreetly place it on her knee, eliciting a sharp inhale from her.She must feel the allure too.Slowly, I inch my hand higher up her thigh while everyone continues to converse with no idea what’s going on between us. I can tell I’m affecting her by the way her breathing picks up and her face flushes.

Just as my pinky grazes her panties, Sierra jumps up from the booth and yells, “I love this song. Time to dance, girls.”

Reluctantly, I remove my hand, and both Nash and I scoot out of the booth to allow the girls to file out.

They make their way to the dance floor while Rihanna is singing about rude boys. My eyes are glued to Kylie’s sultry moves and the way she shakes that tight ass of hers. It’s calling for me to place my hands on it.

When we lock eyes, that’s my cue. I prowl over to her like a lion ready to devour its prey, and once I get to her, I spin her so her back is against me and sway with her, grinding my erection against her ass. She must feel how hard I am for her because she places her hands on my upper thighs and slides them up and down while she rubs herself on me in time to the music. Placing my hand on her stomach, I draw her closer before gliding them up to her breasts, down her sides, and along her hip bones. She shivers, and I know I caused the reaction.I’m going to lose control soon.

When Kylie leans her head on my shoulder, I kiss her tempting neck, and she gives a little whimper as her eyes close. I move my lips from her neck to her ear and whisper, “You are so beautiful, Kylie. I want nothing more than to taste you again. Would you like that?”
