Again, I nod. I need to have better control of my reactions with little ears around now. I wasn’t thinking when I threw that bottle. Luckily, it didn’t wake her up as her room is not near the barroom.

Who at our company would do this?Surely Dad or someone would know about this amount of cash being moved. Oliver should. He is the CFO.

“I’m calling Oliver. He’ll be able to figure it out. Someone inside our company must know about this.”

“Isn’t Oliver Amber’s dad?” Kylie asks cautiously.

I quickly catch on to what she’s trying to tell me.

Shit.

Could he have something to do with this? Did Amber convince him to do this to keep us apart?

“Yes, and I know what you’re getting at, but my dad and Oliver have been friends since college. He trusts him more than anyone. This will kill my dad if it’s true.”

“I know,” she whispers.

I need to talk to Dad, but first, I need a plan, and I already have one forming in my mind.

There is someone I could ask, but that someone might tell me to go to hell.

I kiss Kylie on the forehead. She doesn’t know this, but I’ve not kissed another woman since her. Sure, I fucked them, but I didn’t kiss them because it felt too intimate. After Kylie, intimacy with any woman was off-limits. Although I’m beginning to believe her, there’s still no proof, only our assumptions. I don’t know if I’m able to go all in again with this doubt, but I want to. If there is a chance to live my life in the happiness I’ve felt this past week forever, I sure as hell am going to find the answers.

“I have an idea of how to get us some information.” Kylie nods, and when I give her another forehead kiss, she closes her eyes at the touch. “Goodnight, Kylie.”

Turning, I head to my office. I want to spend more time with her, but I have two urgent calls to make. I need answers, and not only for me but for Kylie too. It’s time to put the wheels in motion to fix this.

My first call is to my dad. Luckily, he’s still awake. I tell him everything I’ve learned tonight and my plans to find answers, and he listens silently.

“I’ll need your help with this, Dad. I really need you to have my back with this.”

“I’ll help you find out what happened. But I don’t believe Oliver would do something like this.”

“I don’t want to believe it myself. If there is even a slight possibility that he robbed me… robbed us of time with Riley… I need to find out for sure.”

“You have my support.”

Thank God he is with me on this.

I end my call with him.

Now on to the next call, which will be a little harder to make, but if anyone is capable of figuring it out, it’s him. He’s a genius with numbers. I put my thumb on a name in my phone and press on it. After three rings, he answers.

“I thought I would be hearing from you after Kason called me,” Nash answers, sounding tired.

“Nash,” is all I say.

A female voice in the background asks, “Hey, baby, who’s on the phone this late?”

“No one important,” he says.I deserve that.

“Are you talking to another girl?” she accuses.Oh, this is good.I laugh to myself.

“No, and stay out of my business,” he says as I hear him moving. A door opens and closes before he asks gruffly, “What do you want, Leo?”

“Seems like I caught you at an inconvenient time,” I say, chuckling.

I haven’t allowed myself to admit it until now, but I’ve missed our banter.
