Page 72 of Worth the Risk

Amber said she wanted to grab something to eat before drinking on an empty stomach and would meet me here, so I arrive at the fire alone.

I spoke with Leo on the way here and told him I was on my way to a fire, and he asked who’d be there. If he’s worried about James, he shouldn’t be. I’ve not seen him for weeks. It is like he has fallen from the face of the earth. I assume he’s moved on.Good for him because I could not care less.

Leo and I didn’t have much time to talk as he was leaving for a charity event with his dad and Sophie, but he said he missed me and would see me tomorrow morning.

Meeting up with Sierra and Becca by the fire, the time flies as we catch up with each other and old friends. After almost two hours have passed, Amber finally shows up.

“Hey, Amber. I thought you might have changed your mind tonight. What took so long?”

“Sorry about that. I was talking with Nash. He seemed upset and started drinking heavily, so I was concerned. I wanted to make sure he was okay. He’s drunk, so I helped him to his room, and he passed out.”

He was upset, but I didn’t think he planned to get drunk. I thought he’d want his wits about him and not talk to Leo while dealing with a hangover.

About a half hour later, I call it a night. When I say my goodbyes to the girls, Amber stands up to leave with me. As I break through the crowd, the one person I didn’t want to see stands in front of us, blocking our path home. Beth.

Not in the mood to deal with her shit tonight, I say, “Get out of our way, Beth.”

“No, I’m staying here. I have something to say to you, and I don’t think you’ll like it. Me, on the other hand, I’m going to love it.” She cackles like the witch she is.

What now? Doesn’t this girl ever give up?

“What is it you have to say?” I ask, my tone indicating that I’m bored.

“How’s Leo?” she asks, throwing me off.

I wasn’t expecting her to ask that.

Instantly, my guard goes up.

“What business is it of yours? You going to chase after him now?” I sneer.

She gives me a big smile, and deep down in my gut, I know this will not be good.

“Oh, Kylie. I don’t have to chase him. I’ve already caught him. How does it feel to have the man you love be with someone else? Hurts, doesn’t it?”

What does she mean by that?

“I have no idea what you’re talking about, and quite frankly, I don’t care.” I step around her to leave. I’m not getting into it with her.

“Oh, but you should care. Considering another boyfriend must have come to me because… once again… you can’t keep a man satisfied.”

What the fuck? She must be lying. Leo wouldn’t do that to me.

Would he?

Shit.

No, I must believe he would not do that.

“Leo would never do that, so take your lies and get the fuck out of my face,” I scream. If she wanted my attention, she has it now.

“Wouldn’t he? Are you sure about that? How would I know he has a big cock and knows how to use it? I would know because he fucked me with it in his bedroom countless times. Does he still have the gray and white bedding? How about that garden tub in his bathroom? Although I enjoyed the hot tub even more. Has he fucked you there yet?”

I stand stunned. How would she know those things about his house if she had not been there, much less in his bed and bathroom?I get mental images of them having sex in his house. Nausea swirls in my stomach thinking about what she said about his dick the most. She could be lying, but something tells me she isn’t.

“I see the wheels turning in that pathetic head of yours, Kylie. How often did James tell you it wasn’t true, and you believed him? How many times will Leo tell you the same and, like the fool you are, you’ll believe him too?”

My blood is boiling, and I smack her right across the face so her head snaps to the side. Bringing my hand up to smack her again, I’m stopped by a hand on my arm.
