“Okay,” I breathe as his hands slide up the inside of my tank, pushing the fabric up until he’s cupping my breasts once more.

“Off,” he growls before ripping it from my body, quickly followed by my bra.

He stills, staring down at me with nothing but awe and love in his eyes.

“Fuck, baby. So perfect.”

“Please,” I beg, needing more than just his eyes on me. “I need you.”

He begins to descend the bed, but I don’t miss the way his teeth grind and his jaw tics.

“Alex, you’re in pain.”

“I don’t give a fuck,” he groans. “I need—”

“Switch. Lie on the bed.”

“Evie,” he growls. “I need—”

“To do as you’re fucking told?” His eyes widen at the strength in my tone.

“Shit. Okay.”

I roll out of his way, and he flops onto his back, his eyes closing for a beat as he battles with his pain.

“You need pills?” I ask, already aware that he’s going to refuse.

“No, they make everything numb. I don’t want to be numb. I want to feel. Everything.”

Heat floods my core, but it’s not enough to be able to push his pain aside.

“Where are you going?” he asks when I climb to my feet and walk toward the door.

“I’m naked, Alex. I’m hardly leaving,” I tease.

I don’t need to look back to know his eyes are eating up every inch of me; my skin burns red hot with his attention.

Before I change my mind and launch myself at him, I rush from the room, rummaging through my bags for the pills Gianna gave me.

After getting him a glass of water, I return with both in my hands.

“Evie, I said no. I don’t—”

“They’re not the strong ones. Just standard. They’ll help take the edge off but won’t make you sleepy.”

He studies me for a beat before his eyes drop to the box.

“See, they even have caffeine in them,” I say, holding it closer.

“Fine, okay.”

When he holds his hand out, I pop two pills into his palm and wait for him to swallow them.

“Are you done? Can you climb up here and sit on my face now?”

Everything south of my waist clenches as my mind conjures up the image of me doing just that.
